Lesson from Karen - Take care of yourself, then comes everything else. I've been lucky enough to have Karen Burns as a teacher and mentor this year at MSD. Karen has taught me one of the most important lessons in the discipline - health. Physical and mental health are often traded in for hard work, but to create something great you must first feel even greater. I now start my Saturday mornings (most of them) in Pilates and in good health. Words and photography: @bydianapan
A mud bath is basic requirement in a rhinos skin, there skin is thick and believed to grow up to 5cm,with that they can't sweat like us human beings, and that's the reason why spending some time in the mud helps in cooling them down.their skin also lacks melanin and Thus the coating of mud on their skin acts as a sunscreen to deter the ultraviolet rays of the sun.it also helps keep some insects and bugs away. Sudan being old As he is cant roll and turn himself in the mud,and that's why we have to give him a mud birth, and this afternoon as usual everyday He needed one
Me, all tucked up cozy in bed after a long day, James gets up and disappears down the hall for a few minutes before he comes back in and sits down and sighs... Him: "What would you ever do without me to shut up the house for you?"
Me: "What? I did that!"
Him: "The front door was open."
Me: "Oh yeah. I meant to close that."
Him: "The heater was on in the sunporch."
Me: *pulls covers up to chin*
Him: "The garage door was open."
Me: *pulls covers up over nose*
Him: "And the water was running in the sink."
Me: *pulls covers over head, melts into bed*

In any other industry, Trainer’s or Coach’s are expected to provide a level of education to achieve a level of competence in their clients, students or learners.
Yet, this is not the standard in the Fitness industry. Instead, we have steroid abusing drug dealers, offering quick fixes and false information presented through “lifestyle choices”. Cookie cutter, generic programs are being accepted as the norm and it’s not good enough.
The sad thing is that the only person that looses is the consumer.
Your trainer should have a plan for you, that is broken down into small steps that will move you forward to your greater goal. This is a process of education.
It’s like being stuck in mud, and kicking and thrashing for hours but in no certain direction. Sure, you’ll work really hard and it’ll make you tired but your not going anywhere.
Don’t cheat yourself of gratification. Make sure your trainer is looking out for you. It’s their job.
Experts say it takes 21 days to create a habit. In this journey of being a caregiver, I encourage you to make a list of I AM statements and repeat them daily. This will create a mental shift regarding your situation. Though the situation may not change, the way you think will and will give a better outlook to come! #selfcare101
This past week in Kansas City has been another whirlwind. This time, in the best kind of ways.
As my mom has been in recovery mode, we've had the chance to actually talk, laugh, and reminisce.
I've been able to let myself stop parenting HER and see beyond my "sick mom," acknowledging her for the complex woman she has always been.
During this trip, I decided it was time to empty the storage unit where I'd kept the remaining boxes representing 30+ years.
After clearing out the house last year there was so much I didn't have the emotional energy to handle. I knew it eventually had to be done, and now it is.
One of these boxes contained almost 25 years worth of MS magazines, detailing feminist fights for justice among a litany of other major events.
So before my departure I took her shopping (something she never could've gotten through before but now is made easier with the portable oxygen tank) and I spotted this 45th anniversary edition MS magazine.
She was thrilled to have her collection displayed on her new bookshelf that is now complete with this 45th anniversary edition stacked neatly on the end.
Her health has always been in flux but we never take a day for granted. .
