The New Porsche GTS is here to make you fall in love with 718's.
Since the Posche Boxster and Cayman swapped flat-six for turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engines, and had a historically dubious ‘718’ connotation applied to their name, they’ve not wanted for speed or poise, but some character and sense of occasion has been sorely lacking. While Porsche's GTS model have a habit of being the sweet spot where engineeres tee up the finest qualities of Stuttgart’s finest. Before you could get GTS models on almost ever car in their production line, now they're adding the 718 to the GTS family, this is the new Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman GTS.
Powered by a mid-mounted 2.5litre four-cylinder boxers, and power has been up by 15Horsepower from the old 718,now producing 345Horsepower,(but at the same time,GTS's were never about power,so if you were expecting 400 to 600Horsepower,you're looking in the wrong place.)
while torque has only been up by 17lb ft,making a good 317lb ft of torque, then you have to choices for gearboxes,a six-speed manual, and a seven-speed PDK,the 718 GTS is still pretty fast.Engage Launch Control and you're going 0-62mph (0-100kph) in just 4.1secs,and the car will top out no futher than 180mph(290kph).Then we come to the price, the heartbreaking session,(sure you're sitting there hoping thats its not expensive)£59,866 for the Cayman version and £61,727 for the Boxster version(convertible).
But its a reasonable price, since you're getting a car that not so much on the track side, and likes to play around like a dog and waggle about. But still I can't afford it so haha.
