The African Says that "Only a fool points to his history with his left hand." What this means is that you must know and respect where you come from. How can you truly respect yourself if you do not know or understand the struggles & trails your people surmounted for you to be here? *IMPORTANT* - Black Identity By Maya Angelou #TheZong#By#MarcusDistant
GREEN / PRIMARY - In 1701 the city had 102 registered vessels - A century later the figure stood at 796. In 1709 Liverpool handled only 14,600 tons of shipping, but that had doubled by the turn of the century, and by 1800 had risen to 450,000 tons. The only liverpool ship trading in Africa in 1709 was a mere 30 tons, but in the last year at the century 134 ships with a total tonnage of "34,966 tons" were destined for Africa #Research#Notes#ColourCoded#TheZong
GREEN / PRIMARY INFO - 132 slaves thrown overboard.
- From Africa to Black River, Jamaica. - Luke Collingwood, ordered the slaves to be killed in three batches to save water supplies.... All this will most likely transcend into the screenplay
Example of how I work... At the top of this page you will see highlighted in GREEN / PRIMARY Information.... At the beginning of the eighteenth century, Liverpool population had been a mere 5,5145. At mid-century that had shot up to 77,653. The engine, the cause behind this human growth, was the massive expansion of Liverpool's seaborne commerce AKA The trading of human cargo... Pretty tricky to show this in a film, but the info could be used written in white font set against a black screen at the opening scene of the movie to give the audience an idea of the brutality of what took place. #Research
So, A Tip I came up with whilst condesning down my notes into small sentences or KEY PHRASES Or FACTs in which I hope to use in my final screenplay.... I colour code the information in three sections. GREEN for PRIMARY, YELLOW for SECONDARY, and THIRD BASE INFORMATION... this will make it alot easier on myself when condensing all my notes down to a BEAT SHEET which will eventually lead to a 90/100 #Screenplay#WeWorking#TheZong
Blockbuster refused to buy Netflix (Netflix was literally laughed out of the meeting) for $50 million.
- Netflix is now worth $64.7 BILLION. (And where is Blockbuster?) MySpace rejected Facebook's original purchase price.
- Facebook is now worth $439 BILLION.
(And where is MySpace?) George Bell, then CEO of Excite, refused to buy Google for $750,000.
- Google is now worth $641 BILLION.
(And where is Excite?) Ross Perot refused to buy into Microsoft for $60 million.
- Microsoft is now worth $507.5 BILLION.
(And where is Ross Perot?)................................... - Everybody laughed at me, when I first proclaimed that MY "DEBUT" SHORT FILM, #TBWHIA & VERY FIRST screenplay that got me taken seriously as a writer was going to sell to Netflix & become a £1,000,000 franchise.... UNTIL I DID IT!
(And where are my doubters now). When people say NO to you, just keep going! You're worth MORE than you know and your time is coming.

QUESTION???? Who else amongst you is an avid geek... Who cant help themselves when they see FREE bookmakers taking handfuls at a time... Knowing that you will most likely convoy between multiple books at one time, reading a few chapters of one book for an hour, putting it down, picking up another one... Until your 3/3rds through a pile of books that never get finished because you have added to the pile with more volumes... Am I Alone??? OR are there Aliens amongst me???... I ALSO HAVE AN O.C.D of making sure all my books have bookmakers in are symmetrical in synch when in piles.... Walk your own journey #BE_Alien 🤗

So, the zong slaved shipped departed from Africa to deposit slaves to Jamaica, Black River.
But due to the disease found on the ship... The Captain Luke Collingwood, the good captain caught milerial and died. Leaving them to pick a captain who was a drunk, and kicked off a previous ship fpr being an annoyance. It was the new captains navigational era that led to the slave ship, Zong going back south to Africa when it should of been 1/2 days away from bourfing at its destination. Jamaica, Black river.
Due to the lack of water and supplies the captain couldn't deploy the ship at a neighbouring slave harbour in tje carribean due to Englamd being at war with the french... Hence why they were at sea for 100 days compared to the original 61... Leading to them having to kill the 133 slaves. Starting with the woman and children, then the men. killing all 133 over a four day period. Tighing weights around their knecks... Cries of children could be heard from the sea.... This was the final act in the British slave history that lead to EMANCIPATION!... Making the slave owners question their own humanity... Could slaves really be seen as human cargo or cattle??? The most famous injustice in British slave history that I would like to bring to the silver screen... I believe this work could put me up there with Spike Lee, Malcolm X, and Steve McQueens - 12 years a slave #WeWorking
Many Months ago, perhaps a year or two now... I decided to write a screenplay titled THE ZONG - FREE MY SOUL TO THE SEA... The Zong massacre was the mass killing of 133 African slaves by the crew of the British slave ship Zong in the days following 29 November 1781.[note 1] The Gregson slave-trading syndicate, based in Liverpool, owned the ship and sailed her in the Atlantic slave trade. As was common business practice, they had taken out insurance on the lives of the slaves as cargo. When the ship ran low on potable water following navigational mistakes, the crew threw slaves overboard into the sea to drown, partly in order to ensure the survival of the rest of the ship's passengers, and in part to cash in on the insurance on the slaves, thus not losing money on the slaves who would have died from the lack of drinking water.
After the slave ship reached port at Black River, Jamaica, Zong's owners made a claim to their insurers for the loss of the slaves. When the insurers refused to pay, the resulting court cases
