Congratulations to Marson & Marson contractor customer @oneway_construction for winning this year's BNCW Tour of Homes award for Best Exterior Appeal! We were happy to provide the cedar and decking on this beautiful new home. Repost @brandon_oneway_construction (@get_repost)
Fantastic day at the BNCW Tour of Homes. We are very proud to show off @thehideoutcabin in this year's tour and to have won the award for best exterior appeal! It takes a great team to make a job like this come together so smoothly, huge thanks to everyone involved.
DIY ladies AND gents!
So this is the original cedar siding to our house. We found it under the old siding and I thought it'd be cute to do something with this. It has our street #
Any ideas? I need help! My creative juices aren't flowing as much since the house begin built has taken a lot of my ideas/time.
Designed and built this cute little 18'x20' screened in porch. We kept the front and side perfectly level, but it slopes to the back with 4" of drop. So the roof has a compound fall from front and side. When installing the metal roof we screwed through the ridges not the valleys, and used a butyl on the seams. Had some heavy rains last week without any problems whatsoever. Used a privacy screen material in the soffit which I think looks really good. Screens are held in with two screws, so easy removal for repair. Last picture shows how good the Ipe looks oiled up.
98% of the #cedarsiding on my house is #og ...original shit from 1905...I don't give a shit that this took 4+ yrs, a ton of help from various friends, a painter, missing skin from my fingers, numerous falls from ladders, arguments and fights with the city....there is absolutely no vinyl or plastic on this house. If your home was built before 1930 and you have vinyl siding, your home was remodeled, not restored. There is a very distinct difference, so let's stop with the "my restored Victorian colonial in Asbury Park".... Victorian Colonial? <--no such thing (Man did I just get snooty about that shit)
Still alot of work to do
Take a look at this project from Sausage, LLC using our cedar fineline! Cedar makes great siding and this product is a modern take on this rustic wood.

Took me awhile, but I finally got around to putting up new #siding on the box window on our house after replacing the window back in December 2015. Yikes! This was my first time installing #fibercementsiding . I have to say, I still prefer #cedarsiding , but it seems to be a special order item down here in the mid-atlantic, every yard in New England stocked it growing up. Still a bit of work to do, gotta #caulk and finish plugging the screw heads on the #pvctrim , then I think it will be on to the kitchen reno. #diy#homeimprovement#fibercement#siding#renovation#handyman
Posting has been a bit sparse because I was losing some of my inspiration. After all, it's been a lot of hey! look! more siding!! But today is different. You see that piece he's holding? That is the VERY LAST PIECE of siding. And, now, the exterior siding is done, just like that! I don't have to stain any more boards. We don't have to fussy cut them to size. Now all we have to do is figure out what the heck to do on the inside of this beast!! You know, no big deal. 😬 .
