@ryanjgreenheck has been saving a brand new body of work just for this year's #brooklynpotteryinvitational ! Striking black porcelain is influenced by expressionistic painting techniques, demanding attention with bold black and white pattern. This work will be available exclusively from September 8th - 10th and marks a very big stylistic change for Ryan. Don't miss out on your chance to own a part of this signature collection!
Without failure there is no learning! I must've poured about 5 liters of plaster for this large tumbler drop out mold, only to have it pop up 10 minutes later; ruin. Luckily I managed to salvage some of the plaster, and I had a smaller cup I wanted to mold. Put extra clay on the seal, and filled it with loose clay so there wasn't so much air inside the leather hard piece and less pressure to float to the top. My friend at the studio also told me to let the plaster sit a bit before pouring so it has less time to fail. Learned a lot! And after 3 or 4 failed molds, I finally have a winner. After a few days of drying, I'll be able to slip-cast and I literally can't wait 😊 #education#wheretheresawilltheresaway
