Letter to a Young Activist in Troubled Times
Mis estimados: Do not lose heart. We were made for these times. I have heard from so many recently who are deeply and properly bewildered. They are concerned about the state of affairs in our world right now... Ours is a time of almost daily astonishment and often righteous rage over the latest degradations of what matters most to civilized, visionary people.
You are right in your assessments. The lustre and hubris some have aspired to while endorsing acts so heinous against children, elders, everyday people, the poor, the unguarded, the helpless, is breathtaking. Yet, I urge you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope. Most particularly because, the fact is we were made for these times. Yes. For years, we have been learning, practicing, been in training for and just waiting to meet on this exact plane of engagement...
I grew up on the Great Lakes and recognize a seaworthy vessel when I see one. Regarding awakened souls, there have never been more able crafts in the waters than there are right now across the world. And they are fully provisioned and able to signal one another as never before in the history of humankind... Look out over the prow; there are millions of boats of righteous souls on the waters with you. Even though your veneers may shiver from every wave in this stormy roil, I assure you that the long timbers composing your prow and rudder come from a greater forest. That long-grained lumber is known to withstand storms, to hold together, to hold its own, and to advance, regardless.
In her new Medium post, @leylaacaroglu shares an in-depth look at her activated method for making change by design, the Disruptive Design Method: "The world needs more pioneers of change, people who are willing to intentionally and thoughtfully disrupt the status quo of deep-seeded problem arenas. Innovation is useful for iterating at the edges, but what I am interested in founding is a movement of creative changemakers who have the critical, cognitive, and practical tools to understand, intervene, and activate positive impacts globally." These cards are just so sweet and make me really happy to look at them. 😇❤️ "Hope helps us move through our problems and choose to perceive them in a new way. 🌟HOPE IS THE CONDUIT FOR MIRACLES. 🌟 For me to move past the sadness, shame and need to control, I had to surrender to hope and let go of my plans." A darkness overcame me and I couldn't escape. I looked left and they were there with white hoods, I looked right and they were there with red swastikas. I looked in front and saw my rainbow brothers and sisters: Jews, Friends of Color, Trans, Gay, Lesbian, Muslim, Womyn, girls, disabled the list goes on and on.. they had tears. Dripping from their face, jaws clenched they started to shake. They looked around them and together we looked up and elevated. We held each other tight. We looked up and we saw the light. The light that takes us from darkness. We wiped our tears and let ourselves rise. We kept going till the darkness below was a memory. We embraced with hard hugs, kisses and said NEVER AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN.
This was my dream last night. I love you all. Shine that light. We are the light workers that will heal this world through love.
This is the year of LOVE💓
Shabbat Shalom, I love you❤

A #flashbackfriday Grant success story: In February we awarded 5 laptops to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Kansas to provide to the Concordia Primary School in Merotte, Ouest, Haiti through our nonprofit grant program. // New Belgium Brewing is 100% Employee-owned //
This is what conscious capitalism is supposed to be about.
Good things are brewing in Colorado. Lots of beer of course, but also sustainable business models where employees are rewarded for their commitment.
Kim Jordan, the founder of New Belgium Brewing, shifted the company over to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), where the workers start accruing stock after a year of employment. Essentially, the $225 million business is mostly employee-owned.
Jordan says this is “a form of honoring human capital and its contribution to a vibrant business milieu”––a sentiment deeply resonates with us.
She wants her team invested in the growth of their careers and the company. We bet that, because of this, they’re doing more inspired work and calling in sick less frequently.
Hey, share this story and keep this conscious capitalism trend rolling. Cheers.
This is how we roll. What happens if you bring creative and beautiful #changemakers , humanitarian #peacewarriors , life creators and a baby in one space? Add good food and some sun ❤️Magic happens. ✨
