After yesterday’s scare with a missile threat hitting Hawaii it reminds me that life is precious. Anyone of us can go at anytime. It may seem harsh to some, but that is the reality. I have been taught this many times in my life. It made me see death as a reality and not something that we don’t talk about and think it won’t happen to us. It will happen to all of us. When your time is up, I hope you feel happy about how you lived. I think that is the beauty of talking about death. It helps you realize you need to live. Make the most of the time you have. If today was your last day how would you spend it? If this was your last month how would you spend it? If this was your last year how would you spend it? So this is your only life, how will you spend it? What will one year or five years or ten years look like for you? Whether you are aware of it or not your life is changing with every small daily action you do, these little things add up to the big thing called your life. So how will you choose to spend your days?
On another note, how are there still threats of countries bombing each other. I truly believe in order to fix the world you should start with yourself. The more you find peace within yourself the more that spreads to others and the world. So thank you to everyone who works on their own inner peace. You make this world a better place. .
Our #YouthVenture program wouldn’t even be possible without the support of these people! The #Champions got together last night to talk about new innovative changes, ways to improve the program and what we all love about the program.
They are the direct contact between us and the students and work with the students, to answer questions and provide guidance, but also to let the students have independence in their decision making, so that the Venture is truly their own. They are prime examples of the great teachers our communities are so lucky to have. Their passion is unquestionable and we are so lucky to have them as part of our #Changemaking group! #UnitedWayMakingADifference#UnitedWay#UnitedWayYouthVenture#BeAPartOfTheChange#BetteringLives

How often have you felt frustrated with yourself with the knowledge that you are not achieving all that you think you should or could?
How often have you looked at the changes you plan to make and thought that it should be EASY to make the change you so desire, to EXPAND yourself and your life, only to find that it is so much more difficult that you expected?
Maybe you have made the attempts to move in your desired direction, only to be tripped up and somehow you have fallen back into old habits?
This is such a well-trodden path – the process of changing habits that leads to feelings of failure, disheartenment and DISILLUSIONMENT!! Where you might give up because it has seemingly not worked, where you take this as evidence that you have not done it right and perhaps that you are not meant to have it at all!! If you were to really look at it and question what has happened, why your attempts may not have resulted in the desired outcome, you could ask:
What were you expecting of yourself around this change, and is this even reasonable?
Have you really given yourself everything that you would need to succeed?
Are you taking yourself and your desired outcomes SERIOUSLY!!! Things are stacking up for my Secret Santa. You better believe there's a pin or two in there!
To be honest I've never enjoyed over-the-top gift giving/gift getting at Christmas - like why people why do we do it to ourselves?😆- so I'm REALLY grateful that family & friends agreed to keep it small & mindful.
What #changemaking gifts are you giving/hoping to get this year?
The thing about creating change in your life, is that it’s first best to accept everything about yourself. You may read this and think, if I accept everything about myself, I won’t want to change anything. However, when you accept yourself, you actually begin to feel like you can do anything, so you want to do more. Therefore, your desired changes become different and almost bigger than your initial desired changes.
In fact, the more you learn to become accepting of yourself, the more you actually feel stronger in your abilities to change. If you always don’t like yourself, you’re fighting your negative vibes and creating a barrier to your change making process.
So one of the most important things you can do to create change in your life, is to start accepting it as it is.
Say out loud to yourself and write it in you planner (once you get yours) that you are exactly where you need to be. #aimandglow#change#changemaker#embrace#embraceyourself#changemaking#ecmplanner#startwithyou#truthtalk#instagood#instadaily#quotestoliveby#quotes#quoteoftheday#life#selflove#selfcare

We‘ve had a great year - who could forget Christopher Muttukumaru's charm, or the inspiring Vithya Hair & Makeup, or the inimitable Karthik Nagesan of The Apprentice? We would like to use this event as an opportunity to celebrate 2017 and thank you for your support. Refreshments shall of course be served!
With Christmas usually being a time for reflection, we have the pleasure of having as guest speaker – Jekhan Aruliah.
Brought up in London, Jekhan graduated from Cambridge, having an extensive career in IT and teaching Mathematics, before deciding to throw it all in and move to Jaffna in 2015.
Eight years since the end of the war, the Northern economy is still adrift and Jekhan is searching for ways to unleash the tremendous economic power that has failed to assert itself in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
Jekhan will be offering his insights and opinions on the development of the North of Sri Lanka, and will be taking questions from the audience.
Please note that due to venue security, you will need to register or will not be permitted entry.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you on the 12th – and in 2018!
