Avalanche, Xtera, and Wrangler are some autos that come to mind when talking about textured black plastics. They also come to mind when talking about textured white or light grey plastics because eventually the elements get the better of them. Any textured surface will show its ware before a smooth flat surface will like paint coatings for example. Imagine you are a piece of debris, industrial fallout, or even a splash of gutter gunk. You're falling out the sky, wherever gravity takes you, and contact, VW GTi. You land on the paint of the well maintained VW, smooth paint is your "Slip & Slide" roll off the hood, & @euroasianmk7 's GTi still looking good. Now if you landed on a neglected paint job your slip and slide would feel like a mud slide, stick'n'stoppin until your stuck halfway up Water Worlds Kilimanjaro with an extreme wedgee😱 crying for mommy. If that slide (your paint) was cleaned and maintained it would smooth enough to shed your butt (foreign contaminants) down the surface. No harm done. Textured plastics dont allow for a smooth ride, now everything sticks, sap, bird caca, even water. leaving calcium deposits in its wake. Oxidized headlight are now also textured plastic deteriorating over time, yellowing and in my opinion "Dating" the car the most along with the grey/whitish trim, hurting its appearance making the car look older then it really is, some might think its not well taken care of when looking to sell it. So looking at this 2004 #chevy avalanche, GM went a little overboard, or did they? As long the black "is back" it's all good. When "whitey" moves in it's "WTF!, lets get black back asap" yep. oh and the headlights, GM gave you FOUR of them. #plasticrestoration -the avalanche presents the biggest challenge on 4 wheels. #mobiledetailing & #restoration in Arizona, 119F, ...well thats crazier then cat shit. but the results tell another story... This cat, hmm 🤔 ya this cat is well prepared. 😼 #nextleveldetailaz#autodetailing#bondo dye back to black. #detailersofinstagram#detailersofig#detailersden
A few pictures from the tear down last week with @12bstormtrooper. Gonna keep plugging away until the @rpmtransmissions trans gets trans and @driveshaftshop axles and one piece drive shaft arrive. Getting ready to order the rest of the parts on Monday. If all goes well, we should be NC bound for tuning at @rpm_motorsports_nc, just in time to make it out to @holleyperformance LS fest in September.
