Truth is my identity ❤ I taught 5 classes yesterday and woke up sore, exhausted, and so content that I thought my heart might burst. This is it, it feels so right, to let life dance through me in this beautiful energy exchange of teaching, learning, and holding space. That glow, that sense of accomplishment, that satisfied soreness is so perfect. 🙏
If you didn't catch the fabulous Open House at @satnamyogachicago because it was raining (so hard!) we still have $20 for 2 Weeks with your name on it, new students! I teach Ashtanga Yoga - Intro to the Primary Series on Saturdays at 5:15pm. Fuel your inner fire, live your highest truth. Sat nam~ 😊
Eating gluten free was super easy in Chicago. I found two 100% gluten free restaurants, @littlebeettable and @wheatsend. Not only were their entrees delicious (beet & chickpea burger, cauliflower steak, classic brunch items like breakfast sandwiches) but I also ate amazing desserts like brownie bites with coconut whipped cream and a beet drizzle! Plus staples like chocolate chip cookies and apple cinnamon rolls were spot on!
The menu at Chicago's first cider bar @thenorthmanchi is almost entirely gluten free and has a gluten free fryer. Their cider menu is extensive with ciders from all over the world, as far as Tasmania. I recommend checking out their Cider School. Monday I learned about Spanish ciders, sampling a variety of ciders from Basque Country and Asturias, all gluten free.
I even ate Chicago deep dish pizza. @chicagos_ pizza has perfected their own gluten free recipe and bakes their gluten free pizzas in a separate oven.
Our local artist in residence this month is Markham Badim-Jenkins, an American/Brazilian Chicago-based photographer with deep roots in Georgia, Louisiana and Brazil. He was raised both in the small town of Bauru in the interior state of Sao Paolo, Brazil and also in the greater metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. He has been photographing professionally for two years and has been practicing for six. His photography studio resides in the heart of Wicker Park where he does most of his commercial portrait work. Join us this Saturday, October 21 from 6-8pm to meet the artist and take in his extraordinary work. @markhamjenkinsimages
Traveling is so fun. I use to always say I don't have "enough" money to travel, but I've learned that it's ok to spend on yourself once in a long while. You work hard for your money, use it. The experience is so worth it at the end. #chicago
