Yesterday I did a bridal shoot for the @riverfrontmuseum to help them with marketing for their event spaces. We had two brides with different types of setups, but we just HAD to bring them in together for one FuN shot in the imax theater!! I’m obsessed!! Florals by the always amazing @lefleurfloraldesign . More coming soon!
Double tap if you love a little bling | 💕| One of my favorite parts in being a wedding photographer is arranging my brides wedding details. I love the creativity in deciding where to place what & how much of what to show for each photograph. .
I believe simplicity is key in showing off every detail just right; and that neutral clean backgrounds + minimal texture + beautiful backlight =‘s the perfect cocktail for photographing the brides wedding details. .
The photograph I took above of one of my brides wedding rings is a great example of the kind of photographs I capture.
Just in case anyone missed my day-long freak out and promotion, my website I’ve been working on for months is now live! Check it out by clicking on the bio link or typing svbridal.com into your computer search bar to get the full effect 🎉
Have a great night lovelies❤️
I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions, however I've decided to take a stab at a few goals I have for myself and my business this year...Off the top of my head, only one jumps to mind: I want to successfully make the switch from coffee to tea...I figure once your body stops giving you that delightful jolt from the caffeine, there's some room for change. Okay, maybe not completely switch, but shoot for just 2 cups a day 😉
Tomorrow I am heading into the city to see Wicked! I will never forget the first time I saw the show. Fall 2003, @kchenoweth and @idinamenzel on broadway in its pre-opening. A-MAZE-ING!!!! Since then I have seen the show four more times with tomorrow being the sixth. It will be my husband’s first time. I know he’s excited, but I don’t think he understands how excited he should be 😉 💚💚💚💚
Elizabeth and LaQueisha's #love was built off a genuine friendship and they continue to share this bond through a love of cooking together—especially breakfast, going to the beach and watching movies. See their blog post from their wedding here: link in profile!
My inbox exploded with happiness yesterday. Meredith, the beauty here, forwarded me the words she sent a bride who was considering booking us for her wedding. I was overwhelmed when I read her thoughts. She and Patrick were pure joy to work with—seriously magic. We know wedding photography is an investment, and we want our clients to be as comfortable and confident as possible. Meredith and Patrick’s experience is the ultimate goal for every wedding we walk into.
“For starters - Amanda and Dash were absolutely a dream to work with. I was actually referred to them and like you, photography was super important to me so I was a little nervous!! However, I can not say enough good things about the quality, service, everything from A to Z. Amanda was SO accommodating and so sweet. We immediately clicked with her during our engagement photos and I knew I made the right decision. I sent her over photos of pictures and styles/poses I liked, and she was able to put her own spin on things and create absolutely beautiful images. I liked her style more than the poses I sent her so I didn't end up sending her shots I wanted for the wedding :). She has a really easy going and bubbly personality which makes it easy to connect with her, which I needed out of a photographer because I didn't want it to feel awkward. I wouldn't consider myself a super photogenic person, but she made us feel so comfortable and made the whole thing a really fun process and I've never felt more beautiful than in the images she captured. One of the things I was looking for out of a photographer was to have that bright, light, natural, airy feel and in my opinion, they nail that to every degree. I looked at so many photographers and I couldn't have been happier with the quality of images she produced. They truly did exceed my expectations, and mine were pretty high when it came to photography. She is the absolute sweetest and really made our wedding day a dream.” #dashweddings
My story as a wedding photographer starts here, photographing my first wedding with my friend @danielle_sergio. We were paid $500 which we split between the two of us. It was a long day, we arrived early that morning and stayed until mid afternoon, but I was on cloud nine. ☁️
I remember people warning me about wedding photography, telling me it was a cut-throat business and there was too much drama. But, that day all I saw was the joy on their faces and two best friends embarking on life’s greatest adventure.
In the years that have followed, I’ve been blessed to work with many couples on their wedding day, and each one is beautiful + unique. I’ve learned SO much about what it takes to be a good photographer - marketing, editing, a quality client experience...to name a few.
In May, I’ll be hosting a photography workshop in Sawyer, MI and sharing everything I’ve learned as a wedding photographer. I cannot tell you enough how valuable the information will be for you as you grow your business! .
Not only will I be teaching educational courses, but there will be styled shoots to add to your portfolio, I’ll take fresh headshots for you, and you’ll have a one-on-one coaching session with me. AND, lodging & food is included. 👌🏼
If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, come to the Joelle Elizabeth Workshop! You can find all of the details and reserve your spot with the #linkinbio . 📸
One of the coldest sessions I think I've ever done just hit the blog today! Jessica and Camren killed it during their Engagement Session and I can't wait for you to see the rest of them! Hit that link in my profile and show them some love! ❄️❤️ #megansforevercouples
Do you really live in Chicago if you don’t post “I wish it were summer!!” posts on the daily in January? 😉 cause I know I wanna post that everyday!!! Double tap if it was dress and short wearing weather!
Ah 2018. A new year with new dreams. I’ve never been a “resolution” person, but I’m definitely a goal setter — or dare I say, goal achiever. I’m also not one to be modest, so I’m just going to say it: I crushed it in 2017. A lot of punches were thrown my way last year and I rolled with all of them. I’ve had to practice finding comfort in the discomfort…WAY easier said than done. Most importantly, I’ve stopped worrying about what everyone else is doing. This was my biggest lesson. Instead, I’ve been doing things my way. I’m not sure if it has something to do with turning 30 last year, but I feel like I flipped a switch and suddenly am 10x more comfortable in my own skin than ever before. Who knows what’s responsible, but 2018 looks like it may be my best year yet.
I’ve been reminiscing about the goals I’ve set for myself and my business over the years and had a good laugh over how much my direction has changed in a seemingly short period of time. A few years ago, if one of my goals didn’t happen, I would have considered it a failure. But the truth is, if you’ve never failed, then you’ve never really pushed beyond your limits (or so my yoga teacher told me today when I wiped out after attempting a flying frog pose). By that logic, I think any failure can also be seen as a success. Because hey, at least you had the guts to try it anyway. Success be damned. 💛 Read more on the blog today. Link in profile.
I almost typed “happy Monday!” in this post if that gives you any idea of where my brain is at today! 🙃 So instead of trying to say something witty, I’m just gonna leave this gorgeous couple here for you all to admire. 😍
Brooke & Ryan took a moment during their Ketubah to explain why they had chosen their witnesses for this special tradition and it brought out such sweet moments while expressing how important those in the room were to the two of them. #WeddingDayTip - Carve out time during this busy day to express some of those hard to say thank yous to your close friends & family.
