Biryani: A saga of flesh, spice and rice.
The Long Grained Basmati came from a land of lush paddy fields, pampered and packed in bags exorbitantly priced. The Chicken was a chicken, and died to give up it's legs and thighs.
And the legs and thighs were drowned in curd, ginger garlic and spices. After the endless night, the 🐔 was slowly cooked in a thick bottom pan in the company of assorted spices, onion and stock. That Long Grained Basmati was released from the packet and steamed till semi-cooked. Then chicken met rice and lay with each other in the deepest confines of the darkest clay pot. Here the pot thickened with a glass of saffron infused milk and drops of golden ghee. A rain of mint leaves and golden fried onions and they were sealed shut and left in the oven; dummed to spend the next two hours, slowly cooking. Judgement hour came and the seal was broken and Biryani partaken. Sublime. The End. Biryani khatam ho gaya.
Old Delhi "Deghi" Chicken Biryani - fragrant with fennel, coriander and black cardamom. There are so many varieties of Biryani with North Indian versions being less spicy but very fragrant. You can’t beat a good Biryani. Takes a while to make but worth it in the end.
Photo by @pagepardo On occasion of New Year is coming , wishing all your family happiness and lucky. When you are doing some wall painting, and you hear a ton of noise coming from upstairs. And it goes on for like 15 minutes, at least. And then it gets quiet, so you go see what's going on. And THIS is what's going on.
Apparently, Sally likes the '70s avocado guest bathroom as much as I do. Oh yes. I'm keeping it. The tub, the walls, the floor, the sink. This picture doesn't do the greenness of it all justice. The bathroom is going to be so '70s avocado-glam by the time I'm done with it. Much more glamour than prison cell, as I just realized it appears here.
I grew up with avocado appliances that my mom was very happy to get rid of when they started going kaput. Maybe that's why I have a love for the color. People were so groovy in the '70s to do whole kitchens and bathrooms in such a bold choice.
And while my psychedelic powder room might get a full makeover someday...for now, I'm going to enjoy my bathroom time machine.
It appears Sally is, too. Such a groovy, moody move...picking the empty tub as a spot for deep thoughts. She always has been a bit of a bohemian. #bohobird
