Volcano Views - Fruitillar, Chile
For the first couple of days we spent in southern Chile's Lake District, the weather was not kind to us - so we spent most of our time indoors, catching up on photos, laundry and sampling the fine traditional German fare bought to the region by immigrants of the 1800’s. 🥘🍺🍷 You can imagine our surprise then, when the weather cleared and we caught a glimpse of commanding Osorno Volcano sitting on the far shores of Lake Llanquihue. 👀😲🌋 #gypsysoulimages
Osorno Volcano - Puerto Varas, Chile
Osorno Volcano is the perfect conical ‘volcano shape’ 🌋 and it’s upper slopes are covered in glaciers, despite it’s relatively modest height (by South American standards) of 2,652m tall.
It’s also one of the most active volcanos in the Andes, with 11 eruptions in the past 450 years! We’ve never been so close to such an impressive and formidable sight and could hardly tear our eyes away from it! 👀😲🌋 #gypsysoulimages
