‼️DISCUSSION TIME ‼️ I want to know who sits like this, aka my genie sit (a modified version of a butterfly stretch for hip flexors), or sits criss-cross applesauce (lol I love pediatrics)! Can you also do a butterfly stretch? (Bring you feet together into a diamond shape and slowly bring your nose to your toes while holding the stretch). *scroll left on the picture to see a much more cheery girl do a butterfly stretch!* I can do all of these, as you see pictured, but these are VERY complicated movements for most Ceeps 🗣👣. And it's TOTALLY VALID if you cannot do these! Trust me, it took me years to master!! What do I credit, personally? My dad's intense soccer coaching/ stretching regime haha (he'd always make me do some version of a hip flexor stretch to stay as flexible as possible!), and my chiropractor. My chiropractor has treating my since I was 3! I also always make hip flexor stretches a priority when I'm teaching my spin classes! 🚴🏻♀️ I sit like this a lot of the time now (in moderation- only about 15 to 20 minutes at a time, because I do have to extend my hips and knees frequently). This sit stretches my lovely hip flexors and helps with the tightness when not done for too long (because we all know I can easily snap back like a crashed slinky at any moment with my tightness)!!! 😂
*Stretches yield the best results when completed on sturdy, flat surfaces. I'm sitting on a fluffy bed here, only because 1) I didn't actually realize I was stretching right away (hehe those are the BEST stretches in my opinion*), and 2) this was years of practice in the making to get to this point. Please do not try to master a stretch this way on your own. My experience should not be taken for medical advice. I am just sharing a glimpse into my life with cerebral palsy here.* 💚
I am a firm believer of a team based approach to health care is the best way to treat a patient (and the patient is always the center of our plans). My undergrad career exposed me to working with so many other professionals with the best interest for our future patients in mind, together. The imagination of children has always been one of my favorite things. In psychology they call these years the magic years. Once they are gone, they are hard to ever get back. Today I got to experience my son (21 months old) showing the first signs of the fun yet to come. He was grabbing the ball off of the page and throwing it to people, we would catch it, throw it back, and he would catch it. ----------------------------------------------- Watching his eyes light up, it reminded me that we as adults need to start imagining more. Perhaps it's dreaming bigger, or getting lost in a coloring book, or out on a beautiful nature hike. -----------------------------------------------

Some think chiropractic is about bad backs and neck pain. But the truth is that the spine is intimately connected to all functions in the body because of the nervous system wiring.
Chiropractic adjustments improve so many aspects of health and performance for babies, kids, and adults of all ages. Not because chiropractic is so great, but because the functional capability of the body is so great. And it's connected to the spine through the nervous system.
Check out this picture looking into the spine with the bones cut away. The nervous system wiring is so intricate and complex. Tiny misalignments in the spine create interference in the nervous system, leading to mal-function in the body.
The worst part about most misalignments (called subluxation) is that they cannot always be felt. Like high blood pressure or cavities, they require specific testing to detect and locate. Chiropractors assess and correct subluxations to allow for greater health and improved performance for all ages. Everyone deserves a Chiropractor for greater life expression...through optimizing spinal health and nervous system function!

However, several studies — like Kjaer 2016, which followed dozens of patients for eight years — have suggested that herniated discs spontaneously de-herniate!
This paper (Zhong et al 2017) is the first meta-analysis of those studies.
The pooled data from eleven of them shows an extremely high overall incidence of disk resorption: a whopping 66% in patients who received conservative therapy (anything but surgery). In the UK that number was 82%! This adds to the already large pile of evidence that back pain’s bark is usually much worse than its bite, and MRI and x-ray are almost useless for most low back pain.
The craziest part is that the discs that were the most herniated were the most likely to heal! Even though the discs healed, the patient may still be In pain.
This is more clear evidence that back pain and disc herniations may have no relationship at all.
You won't likely get this information from a spine surgeon unfortunately.

1)🌬BREATHE RIGHT - inhale big and tall, Decompress the joints, exhale contract the core & support your solid spinal position.
2) ⚡️NECK RIGHT - add in some cervical retraction or technically named "smushy face" movement to stretch suboccupital muscles and get the neck joints out of that forward packed position.
3) 💪🏼SHOULDER RIGHT - we spend most of the day rolled forward into our computer screens. Pack the shoulder blade back and extend the thoracic spine (upper back) get as much length as you can in the upper back neck area.

Always a pleasure treating this lady, a laugh and a smile guaranteed along with some huge accomplishments!! From seeing our resident Chiropractor she initially presented with a severe loss of movement in her Cervical spine and pain, after a skiing accident. However after getting correct care through Chiropractic and Massage Therapy and doing all the exercises we have asked of her.

Wondering what can you do at home for Tennis or Golfer's Elbow? 🤷♂️ Both Tennis Elbow and Golfers Elbow (Lateral and Medial epicondylitis) 💪are overuse injuries from repetitive flexion or extension of the wrist from activities such as tennis 🏸, hedge clipping 🌳, using a hammer 🔨 (tennis elbow/ lateral epicondylitis) or golfing 🏌 or throwing a baseball ⚾️ (golfers elbow/ medial epicondylitis). Rest, ice and physiotherapy modalities such as ultrasound and muscle stimulation (which we do here in the office) can help decrease the inflammation and accelerate the healing process. Home stretches can also help too! Being a future Chiropractic Physician, I occasionally have to give a plug to the profession. Why not try conservative care before reverting to something that is going to be PERMANENT?!
