It is possible you are needlessly suffering with migraines or other headaches because of an abnormal spinal alignment (ex. On left). If this is the case, no amount of drugs or injections will fix the problem, and choosing to burn your nerves (neurotomy) is just unnecessary!
If this applies to you, see a chiropractor that specializes in spine and posture correction. Need a recommendation? I'd be happy to help, just ask.

Anatomical Leg Length Inequalities (ALLI) have been found to correlate to:
1) Lumbo-sacral facet joint arthritis
2) Lower leg stress fractures
3) Knee injuries
4) Hip arthritis
5) Various chronic musculoskeletal pains
6) Some visceral disorders
7) Gait abnormalities with 2cm or more inequality
The only way to know if you have an ALLI, and get it corrected conservatively, is to get evaluated by a corrective chiropractor who specializes in spine and posture correction.
Should athletes have a chiropractor on their wellness team?
A study published in the BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders in 2010 that analyzed Australian rules footballers concluded that due consideration should be given for the inclusion of Chiropractic in the management options of elite athletes.
The addition of Chiropractic therapy appeared to be beneficial for the prevention of lower limb muscle strain injuries, weeks missed due to primary noncontact knee injuries, reduction of low back pain, and improvement in physical components of health status.
Athletes looking to be part of the elite should see a chiropractor to stay at the top of their game!

The opioid crisis is creating, and killing, addicts of these powerful pain relieving drugs at an alarming rate. Thankfully, Chiropractic care is a safe pain relief option that may save lives.
A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in May 2016 showed that greater access to, and money spent on, Chiropractic care was inversely associated with younger, disabled Medicare beneficiaries obtaining an opioid prescription.
In other words - Visiting a chiropractor first for pain management lead to a significantly lower use of opioids in the study population. Skip the drugs, try Chiropractic.
It was once again a great tasting with many really positive surprises and lots of insights. Most of the wines performed very well, some even outperformed and 2 wines were somewhat dead or faulty. The winner was Kilikanoon's Oracle Shiraz, which you would put rather to Northern Rhône than Australia – as many others were rather elegant and not so massive fruit driven or concentrated as some expected: straight, tout, mineral, flintstone, some reduction, youngish and with a beautiful red fruit relish of raspberry and cherry. Super persistent on the palate, really long and with great freshness. A great surprise was Wolf Blass Black label from 1996. Fine and distinctive, still lively. The 1997 Rosemonut smelled a bit like an Northern Italian wine with dried flower, leather, earth and violets. Fox Creek's JSM and Clarendon Hills' CS performed very well and were for me amongst the 3 best wines (needed even some airing), also Vasse Felix' Heytesbury 1998 was blindly put into Bordeaux or Chile. The Second row of these Aussie rarities did a great job, some were over the top (i.e the Grenache ones, even from old vineyards of over 110 years and Tatschilla), some have still reserves for a couple of years. Chiropractic care (aka spinal manipulation) has been found to be at least as effective as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ex ibuprofen) for back pain.
Bonus - Chiropractic does not carry the risk of side effects involving your heart, kidneys, liver, digestive system, fertility (men), or joints that NSAIDs do.
Congratulations K & B on your holiday engagement! These pictures really don’t do your emerald justice. It was a pleasure updating your family heirloom. We can’t wait to see how you design your wedding!
"I don't have time to exercise." This is probably the most common excuse I hear from people regarding exercise. Look - If you hope to achieve optimal health, exercise is not optional!
Here I am demonstrating 3 basic body weight exercises that you can do almost anywhere. Yes, I am wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt, but I have also done these wearing a shirt and tie with slacks. The goal here is not necessarily to work up a sweat. It is to work the muscles through a range of motion, stimulate blood flow, and undo some of the damage of a sedentary lifestyle.
You can do this throughout the day at work, before and after work, or just to break up a couch lounge session. I am only demonstrating 3 repetitions of each exercise (front and side view of the Y's), but I typically recommend 10 nice and controlled reps emphasizing maintaining core stability, a straight back, and breathing deeply. If this sounds too easy for you, modify to your liking. If it's too hard, let me know and I can demonstrate some modifications.
Exercise #1 - Body weight squat. Push your butt back, bend your knees, keep your back straight, and squat down as far as you can, pushing your knees out as you lower down. To come up, squeeze your glutes, push your heels into the ground and extend your hips and knees. Breathe in on the way down, exhale at the top. Also give your glutes a good squeeze at the top.
Exercise #2 - Shoulder Y exercise. Stand up tall, raise your arms to your sides with your elbows bent. Squeeze your shoulders blades together, down and back, then relax. This is great for helping undo some of the flexion posture commonly associated with desk and office work, and has been described as one of the best exercises for rotator cuff and impingement issues.
Exercise #3 - Pushups. The classic. Keep your arms tight to your body, keep your back straight, brace your core. Bend your elbows to lower down, then to come back up squeeze your pecs, push the earth down, and at the top protract your shoulders forward sucking your shoulder blade to your rib cage. Breathe in on the way down, exhale coming up.
These only take a few seconds. Make time.

Reserve your spot at the barre for our Donation Class this Saturday, January 13th at 11:30 am! All funds collected will go directly to the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, through the Clarendon Hills Auxiliary Chapter. Infant Welfare provides medical care and social services for uninsured women and children in Chicago. Fundraising efforts by the auxiliary have provided a constant and reliable source of support, helping to ensure that all babies have a healthy start in life.
Wellness is a process by which you give your body the resources it needs to heal and recover from stress from the inside out, while avoiding or eliminating as many of the potential disruptors of those processes as possible.
This requires a combination of nutritional, physical, mental, and even spiritual, habits done consistently for life. This isn't always obvious based on social media hashtag results.
No offense intended to yoga or smoothies. Both can have great wellness benefits. 😃
While we ride out the rest of winter we take comfort that the flowers will be here soon. Until then this exquisite high fire enamel Art Nouveau brooch will have to hold us over. Come see it at the Clarendon Hills store.
Having the "wrong curve" in a child's neck may contribute to headaches and neck pain, as well as less obvious issues, including ADHD/ADD and Tourette Syndrome. Unfortunately, this will not get better on its own.
Conservative corrective Chiropractic using the Chiropractic BioPhysics technique may be the drug-free solution the child needs to be healthier and more functional going forward.
The above picture is an example of a young person with a reversed neck curve. The correct curve should have developed before birth.
Tools of the Trade - At DuPage Pain Management we have all the necessary tools to help relax tight muscles, improve range of motion, restore optimal spinal curves, correct posture, and yes, to help eliminate pain!
So many people have no idea just how good their body can feel, or how well it is meant to function. Years of built up stress and worsening posture and joint mechanics can rob the body of quality health and vitality. Thankfully, we have the solution.
