You ask, "Why do you talk about what happened to your daughter?" and I always tell people because this is something that can happen to any of your children, grandchildren, students, nieces, nephews, or neighbors. Be aware of our story so you can be vigilant with your own children's care, should the need arise. It takes a village and if our story can help just one family it is worth sharing.
The Journal of child and adolescent psychopharmacology now has published guidelines and the consortium of 40 doctors at various institutions (including Harvard, Stanford and Tufts) have brought this crippling monster of a disorder front and center. No child should enter an ER ever again without being tested for an infectious process. I had to fight and persist for the testing for Teagan. Geriatrics's are given UTI testing when they present with neurological symptoms, children should be afforded the same due diligence.

LOOK FOR THE CAUSE - don't just treat the symptoms.
I walk into my classroom on the first day back from break and my perfectly measured masking tape calendar was in a crumpled mess on the floor🙄 I was not about to redo it, so I took the opportunity to add a community-building element to our routine. If students finish their work early, they may write a Shout Out to one of their peers. If we have time, we'll read some out loud at the end of the day. This board has only been active for a week, but it's already so full 💕 (Shout Outs from @misswestbest)
Sometimes you need to play before you can create meaningful work. Our third graders have demonstrated this beautifully in these small manipulation excercises. "How many ways can you change and attach a strip of paper?"
Amo mi profesión y con unos tenis cómodos es mejor, estos tenis los compre hace un año y espere por ellos durante 6 meses, desde que me los compre me han acompañado en diferentes lugares pero los más significativos siempre son los salones de clases
My kids love writing procedural reports about carving pumpkins! Making their own jack-o-lantern is the icing on the 🎂! Link to writing in profile!

So this is how I organize my classroom job helpers. There are 3 students each week that take care of all the classroom jobs. On Monday mornings I just flip each card to the one behind it, and, voila, new job helpers! Every student in my class knows their alphabetical order number (We call it "Number Order"), so this way I don't need to make new cards every year with names on them. We use their Number Order for many things in our class, as you will come to learn! #teachersofinstagram#teacherlife#teachersfollowteachers
