Photo by: @katha_saurwein "I always say that I love to train and it's 99% true, but hangboarding is that 1% which I really don't like. I'm always scared for my fingers and it hurts the skin.
But is it a necessary evil? Or not necessary at all? What are your thoughts on deadhangs?"
Merry Christmas! Spreading the festive cheer @archclimbing on Monday!
Team orange helmet day on the Green Monster. From the trail it looks as if you will be groveling and jamming up wide crack but it turns out it is more of a face climb with great gear and a couple of sweet jams here and there. Classic Lemmon. Awesome day out! Thanks @faustrochin for the solid belays every week! #widecrack#notreally
Who here thinks girls who climb are badass?!? We think so too!
@marenschwenzfeier earning her chops during a sport session at LimeKiln last year. Maren is also a wilderness firefighter, solo sea kayaker, and world traveler. This is one lady who has badass in her blood. @rockclimbingwomen
Waiting for the sun to come up over the cliffs. Morning requires double layers and bottomless refills for hot beverages. We sit in silence adoring the quite motionless terrain. Once that sun peaks over, its go time.
Trying hard on the Moonboard is so much fun. Even if you can’t make it past the start. Lol. Ben Moon’s Klingon 6B
Proof that @brendanleader does actually boulder too. I thought about posting evidence of me bouldering but thought it might actually create a rip in space-time. Rocktown is kicking my ass but it's great getting back to some pebbles. I realize I've lost a lot of power, so hopefully that comes back soon. Psyched to play more here!
Team Beta is back from another successful @usaclimbing comp, with six athletes headed to the 🏆Youth Divisional Championships🏆If you see these kids around the gym be sure to congratulate them. Their hard work has been most impressive‼️🙌🏻

Going out to the Relic Roof is always a task. You have to be prepared to go #adventurebouldering

The Río Cochamó isn't quite as calm as the nearby fjord but it's not a bad place to spend a few quiet moments. This is a huge old coihue that is hanging over, providing shade for the fish.

Happy birthday, Mich! 🌮🍺 You had quite a year! Here’s to another year of success, health, and happiness. Have fun in Hueco and stack one up for all of us. 😀 • @michaelakiersch on the victory lap portion of ‘No Redemption’ (8a), the part where the holds just get bigger and bigger and the stress drops. Taken a few weeks ago. #rrg#noredemption#redrivergorge
Had a good time competing at the French cup of Chamonix last weekend!
I hadn't climb at a comp for a while so I really didn't know what to expect. I climbed well and relaxed during qualifications🤙
I started well my final round but did a mistake on the last boulder and that costed me the podium. It was fun though!😁

In our day and age, global society has been saturated with the wrong teaching of false positivity. The denial of darkness never equates the abundance of light. And the denial of your actual character never equates to the reality of your best character. People today are afraid to work on themselves and on their actual realities, they believe that outward appearances are enough. Outward appearances have become everything in our current day and age. People don't see what they are actually like, nor who they actually are, in reality. They live in a phantasmic version of reality. It has to stop. In the phantasmic version of reality, there is no chance to experience true love, true goodness, and true metamorphosis. The caterpillar does not become a butterfly by telling everybody it has wings. It actually buries itself in darkness and grows those wings. ~ C. JoyBell C. •

"You've got great taste in routes!" That's what Lee @xxleeweexx said to me while climbing Chicken Eruptus (5.10b R). This was the last climb Lee and his partner got on before heading back to New Hampshire. While they were here they got on Yin and Yang, Atman, Big Bad Wolf, Epinephrine, Ragged Edges, and Chicken Eruptus. Not a bad tick list for a long weekend. Nice job fellas!
Over the past 20 years I've made about a dozen trips to Peru and made many wonderful friends. Here's some sports action on Shining Path, opened by @jasonkehl_cryptochild. Both travel and climbing separately and together have built for me a worldwide community of incredibly talented, motivated, smart, athletic and adventurous people. I hope to keep it up and keep it growing.
One more sponsor that recently joined in supporting the West Coast Climbing team is Red Bull. Of course it's awesome to see a big brand and one of my clients join in on supporting this fast growing sport. Product placement not paid for by Red Bull, just wanted to try and test some ways to sneak a can in there for possible future assignments :)⠀
