🇺🇸 Hello people! I am an outspoken coffee lover and a doctor, many of you ask me if coffee is a good/bad thing for your health, so I wanted to share this. *
The truth about COFFEE:
- Coffee is a stimulant to the nervous system, that is why you get "hyper"
- Regular use of a stimulant can lead to physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms, like headaches when you forget to take your coffee, but nothing major to worry about.
- Duration of the stimulant effects is 6 HOURS, which is why it's consumption is not recommended after 3pm if you want to get a good night sleep.
- Caffeine doesn't dehydrate. It is a weak diuretic but the water content in the coffee compensates it. - Caffeine has been proven to help staying alert and concentrate.
- Coffee stimulantes gastrointestinal contractions and can act as a laxative. - In moderate amounts is not "bad for your health". It increases your heart rate, if you have a cardiovascular related pathology, consult your doctor.
Do you know the difference between iced coffee and cold brewed coffee? Cold brewed coffee is ground coffee steeped in cold water, left to brew for hours and finally strained. Iced coffee is brewed hot and poured over ice. Iced coffee is made using a fast process, it's usually brewed very strong to make up for the dilution caused by ice, often this leaves a bitter taste and it has become common to counteract this with the addition of sugar or syrups. Cold brew, takes 18 hours or longer. This slow gentler process produces a coffee of lower acidity, which is why cold brew coffee is naturally sweeter.
On average, 146 beans (or 20 grams) make it into a cup of our single origin drip coffee. Thanks to all for participating in yesterday's contest and congratulations to Eric Schou for the closest guess (148)! #TheMoreYouKnow#CoffeeFacts
Did you know that goats helped discover coffee? According to Ethiopian legend, a goat herder found his goats became particularly energetic after eating berries from a nearby plant. Turns out these berries were really coffee cherries! #GreenwellFarms
Let talk about #coffee
Coffee is good and bad for you, small amounts help speed up your metabolism, help prevent cognitive decline and also contains silicon (which can be found in many hair and skin vitamins) an important mineral for thick healthy hair, however on the down side too much coffee can really be bad news for your adrenal glands. Too much coffee also increases the stress hormone (cortisol) which is bad for adding belly fat! Drink coffee by all means,I have mine black every morning with a cup of water to make it easier on my intestines. One other thinh that can happen from too much caffeine is that it irritates the intestines and cause bleeding, so keep hydrated and try not to have more than 2 cups a day. #coffee#health#fitness#healthadvice#stayhealthy#coffeefacts#silicon#minerals
// CAPPUCCINO //
. Traditionally one thing which sets a cappuccino apart from other milk based espresso coffees is the texture of the milk, a looser froth which gives the drinker of said beverage a chocolaty moustache. At Ginger & Co and many other speciality coffee shops we texture the milk tighter like a flat white or latte. Why? Because it combines the milk and espresso better to carry the flavour as well as a better mouth feel. If you're after a frothy cappuccino, no problem, just ask for it dry. .

Caffeine !!! ☕️
I love coffee & being a university student sometimes it’s necessary... (kidding it’s always necessary😜) although there is a time when it’s important to be aware of consumption! When I am already very stressed I’ll either cut caffeine out or lower my consumption to give my adrenals a break. Paying attention to what the body needs & the signs it’s giving us is super important. •
Coffee does have some interesting benefits too! I read a study that suggests a relationship between coffee consumption and longer telomeres - which are caps on the end of our DNA (and is used as a marker for aging - they get shorter as we age). coffee possibly making me life longer !? Hell yeahh!! 🤩✨ #cheers#butlistentothebody#giveitwhatitneeds
// AMERICANO vs LONG BLACK // 🇺🇲🇦🇺🇳🇿
. Alright smart arse, you're correct, this is in fact a #Longblack . Typically an Americano is made by topping espresso with hot water, whereas a long black is hot water topped with espresso where the crema sits boastfully on top. We've noticed more and more folk asking for a long black recently, maybe because all things associated with our "hipper" Australian and New Zealand cousins find their way up here rather swiftly or maybe people just find it too embarrassing or too difficult currently to slip the word American[o] into a sentence without cringing at the thought of #DonaldTrump ....Either way espresso topped with hot water or water topped with espresso = tasty as! 😋😋😋

Here’s a fun fact for your Tuesday morning! Did you know that simply smelling coffee can wake you up? “A group of scientists reported that simply inhaling the aroma of coffee can alter the activity of some genes in the brain, reducing the effects of sleep deprivation. And when you do drink that cup of coffee, caffeine reaches your blood fast, like 10 minutes fast.”
