After 2 years, the sisters are reunited! I got Kiryuin Satsuki (Blue) as a Christmas gift 2 years ago and I made Ryuko Matoi (Red) my MUST FIND at FanimeCon 2017. I walked around the Dealers hall countless times trying to look for her. My cousin @shlambo_smith found her tucked away behind other figurines. I lost my mind when I seen her lol. She was a bit pricey because of her rarity but I had to have her! My love for figurines has grew the past few years and my collection is only to get bigger. Anime Expo 2017 is next weekend and I plan to go on a adventure to find more figurines there! Thought I had to share this memory from FanimeCon.
Guadeloupe RF, 30 French centimes, issued in 1928.
This stamp is one of the weaker issues from Guadeloupe and France in particular. Still, it has something that grabs my interest – possibly the dreams of distant lands. It is also of a very similar nature to a Canadian stamp I posted some time ago but mirrored and the later one being of undoubtedly better artistic quality.
A nice touch is the playful use of the name "Guadeloupe" with a squeezed font towards the center. This is something that was quite common in advertisement but rather rare on official prints such as this stamp. Readability would always be the priority but in this case it seemed to work.
Depicted is the bay of the "Îles des Saintes" - the island of the holy. Usually stamps, postcards and photographs of landmarks show the scenery in clear weather. Not so here, where the artist created a slightly overcast situation with strong sun rays emitting from the sky and giving the archipelago name some significance.
Despite being only 12.8 square kilometers in size it was a very fertile land with a natural harbour that provided easy access. To protect it the French built a fort named in an influx of creativity - "Napoleon"! Interestingly to all the general agricultural products you would expect such as cocoa and bananas they also grow pepper.
Guadeloupe is to this day part of France under the Département d’outre-mer classification - the Overseas department. Interestingly this also means that a handful of Caribbean islands are actually part of the European Union. .
Anyone for a Vag Box? @ozelad likes collectables but might baulk at the branding... 😜😘 Probably should get native speakers who are across regional variants to check copy more frequently, Japan #engrish#japlish#funny#japan#collectibles
