Flat assignment version 2.0! Mount Princeton, this time, instead of Claes Oldenburg. So glad I get a chance to take what I learned @illustrationacademy and develop it with @visualartspassage. Always fun #addiesart
Missing my Gunny adventures...too many 14ers in too little of days! @sar_kem how many 14ers can we do in a day?! .
Day 1: Mt. Princeton and Mt. Yale
Day 2: Castle & Conundrum
Day 3: Snowmass...sounds ordinary, but it's brutal!
I've been contemplating adventure. What does it mean to place yourself in communion with the unknown? To what level can you surrender yourself to an experience with a mysterious outcome? Do you allow yourself to feel the waves of delight and joy in the unexpected? When was the last time you set out an a journey for the sake of the discovery?#liminalspace#rockymountainwitch#adventure#unknown#collegiatepeaks#colorado#witchery .
Quite literally the calm before the storm. We started this gorgeous hike before 5am and walked in the dark for 2 hours, once we were well above tree line our early start was rewarded with a stunning sunrise. The weather called for a clear, windless, sunny day, but about 30 minutes after this picture the snowflakes started falling. Soon the flurries turned to heavy snow and then a full on blizzard. 40mph wind gusts forced us to take shelter crouched behind rocks multiple times. Moral of the story is: prepare for the unexpected when hiking big mountains. Luckily we had plenty of warm and wind resistant layers, but if we hadn't, the incredible hike could have quickly turned into a miserable one.
Yesterday was a day that I will remember. So difficult yet so rewarding. The views were unreal. More then 12 hours on our feet, more then 25 miles and thousands of feet climbed. Happy Birthday to one of the toughest humans I know, glad to be on trail with you brother. @thesobey
Nate texted me a photo from the top of La Plata this morning. He soloed it in the snow early in the morning. He's such a freaking badass and I can't believe we get to be married.
As much as I enjoy the independence of traveling solo, I really miss him! We spend basically 24/7 together since we both work from home, so being apart is really weird. It's good though, because we both realize we can do things we love on our own and don't always need the other person to do it with us. But dang I can't wait to be home and hear his adventure stories and tell him mine. Love is so fun in that way.
