I remembered life both ways, in my head, both shouting and loud saying they are the real way, the truth.
I noticed I was back in my time now, my head feeling like it was about to explode, my nose began gushing blood like a faucet as I stumbled out into the main room of the museum. I looked to the doors, I could see Robern lying there dead, but I could also see the doors completely fine with no Robern, both images flickered before my eyes like I was watching a movie with the sole purpose of driving me insane. When I turned away from the doors is when things really got bad. Hundreds of new exhibits were there, all of them talking about me, talking about Eobard Thawne, the villain, the super-villain and arch enemy of The Flash, the speeding mass murderer. And by every exhibit was a picture of me. I cried out and screamed as these images flickered before my eyes. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, but theses exhibits said otherwise.
It was just one little mistake I had planned and I would make it up by doing so much good. I held my head in my hands and weeped loudly in between shrieks, shrieks of terror, of rage, of helplessness. I hurt people. I kill people and I can’t help it. That one decision to break into The Flash museum, it lead to the events that broke my mind, drove me crazy, made me the worst enemy of my greatest hero. Turned me into, The Reverse Flash.
Well, that’s how it happened, but do you wanna know the real kicker? Even in the timeline where none of that happened, Robern still died. He was driving home that same night when his hover car malfunctioned and crashed. No one found him until the next day. So I guess you really can’t change the outcome of time, it still finds a way to happen. Now you know the story of how it happened, how I become a Super Villain.
[Well that's the end of the story everyone, I really hope you all enjoyed it! I want to once again thank everyone who read this and everyone who's been giving me feedback, I'm blown away at all the nice things people have said about this story so thank you again! So this story is over but if you guys think I should write/post more stories let me know! ]
I couldn’t help but laugh, but it was cut short as I felt a punch connect with the side of my head. The edges of my vision went black and the parts that didn’t go black were filled with stars as I rolled back across the floor and turned to see my attacker. To my surprise, it was none other than The Flash. “Thawne!” and he knew my name. That was unexpected. “Flash?” I asked in foggy confusion from the concussion I had just received. Though no sooner had I said it than my head was already clear, I assumed if it wasn’t for the accelerated healing, that punch would’ve killed me. Now The Flash seemed surprised, but only slightly.
“You seem young, this must be early for you.” With that he ran toward me and I ran out the door, the Flash right on my tail. I could hear the lightning coming off of me crackling and booming as I ran, faster and faster. I was back on the treadmill, this time I was heading back to my own time, back to a time when Robern was alive. Just as I started running on the treadmill, The Flash was in front of it. Just as a portal opened, he tried to cancel the trip. I was already in the portal, but the portal I was in wasn’t complete, it was trying to dissolve itself around me. Without the Speed Force shield provided by the treadmill, I was being exposed to sheer raw time energy, and it hurt. I could feel time closing around me, flowing around me and through me. Suddenly I could remember things, things I shouldn’t be able to remember. I could remember things that never happened. I could remember my whole life leading up to the time Robern died but at the same time I also remembered an entire different life, a life different because one couple was killed. It changed everything. I remembered life both ways, in my head, both shouting and loud saying they are the real way, the truth.
[ Only one part after this, enjoy!

He was dying quickly.
“You killed my brother… for that you will pay with more than just your life…” I remembered reading about times The Flash had time traveled so I kneeled down and grabbed the man’s hair to make him look at me. “You will pay with the lives of your parents, before they have you.” As I said this, I pulled him up and snapped his neck with such force a sonic boom escaped and shattered the rest of the glass in the museum. “Because dying just once is too good for you.” I decided to run to the room that housed the cosmic treadmill; just as soon as I had taken a step to go there I was already there. I walked over and typed a year in on the treadmill. “Hmm, parents wedding? Perfect.” No sooner was I on the treadmill then I was standing in central city in a version of the Flash Museum much earlier than my own. One step seemed to count for a mile, it didn’t take long for me to cover all of Central City and find the chapel which housed my old friend’s parents. I could still feel the rage from him killing my brother as I ran towards the monsters that made him. It didn’t take much, one, maybe two punches and they were unrecognizable as people.
If you’ll notice I never referred to my late friend by any name, well, that’s because it’s dreadfully hard to remember the name of someone who never existed to begin with.
[ Sorry this part is so short!⚡️ I'd like to thank everyone who's been reading these stories and encouraging me throughout all of this, I really appreciate it! After this past there's maybe two more so it's wrapping up. ]
Suddenly the pain stopped, in fact every feeling stopped. I couldn’t feel the cool night air; I couldn’t even feel the hard ground beneath me. All I felt was, warm, and I was vibrating. It felt like lying in a heated massage chair, only I knew I wasn’t, it felt like it was inside of me. For a moment I thought I must have died, but slowly I opened my eyes and saw I was still in that museum. I shakily got to my feet. As I did so I could feel myself beginning to solidify, as my molecules slowly stopped vibrating apart from each other and began to once again clump together to form me. As the vibrating stopped, feeling returned. I felt strong. I felt powerful. I looked down and saw strands of red lightning dancing over my now muscular form. The next thing I realized was that I was no longer wearing bloodstained pants and a tight yellow t-shirt. I was wearing a suit much like that of the Flash, except mine was yellow.
I smirked as I turned to the glass case next to me and looked at myself in wonder. I was wearing the outfit I had imagined for myself as a child, Golden Yellow like the statue outside, a suit made of pure Speed Force energy that seemed to glow. The smile fell from my face as everything that had just happened came rushing back to me. “You!” I turned my attention to the man cowering in the corner from me. I thought about running over and grabbing him and without having to exert any energy at all, I was already across the room in front of him. I pushed him into the hard marble wall behind him. Red lightning shot off me in every direction as I moved. As his weak form smashed into the wall, I saw the hard marble cracking. I could hear his bones cracking against the wall. I slammed a fist into him which must have been moving as fast as a car. He coughed up blood in reply and I let him sink down to the floor. He was dying quickly.
[ There's a few more parts to come ⚡️ ]
“That’s for speed isn’t it?! Give it to me!”
He was now running across the room towards me. Before he got to me I stabbed my arm with the syringe and injected the chemicals into myself with a grunt of pain. The man roared with rage as I pulled the suit down off its stand and quickly pulled the mask towards my head as I mumbled desperately, “Please have some Speed Force left…” the man reached out and grabbed my injured leg causing me to cry out as I pulled the mask on. Suddenly everything went light. I closed my eyes to shield them from the brightness as lightning shot off of me and around the room. Several large bolts struck the man square in the chest and sent him flying back across the room. I quickly opened my eyes as lightning dashed through them and enveloped my whole body. I could feel the shocks starting to condense around my leg. Searing pain shot through the bullet wound. The bullet blasted itself out of my leg and the lightning darted into the round left behind. To my amazement the bloody hole on my leg quickly started to repair itself. With a loud crack like thunder the lightning flew into the air above me and hovered near the roof. Hushed words of amazement came from me and the burnt man who had unfortunately survived the jolts. The light formed a bolt like the one The Flash sported on his chest. Suddenly it turned red and shot down into me. I cried out as I could feel every molecule in my body start to get shocked, it was the most unbearable pain I’ve felt in my life as every single fiber of my being was shocked. I felt like I was being cooked alive. Once again I could feel myself screaming in agony but I couldn’t hear anything besides my own heartbeat which seemed to be speeding up and slowing down sporadically.
[ Since this part should be read along with the next part I'll post that one too. ]
I cried “Just take the work I don’t care just please save my brother!!”
The screaming mixed with the tears choked me up as I pleaded with the man standing a few feet away with the phone. I would’ve called the police myself but my phone was in the backpack across the museum floor. I turned back to Robern who was still groaning in pain. “Robern, please understand this is never what I wanted. We may not have gotten along but I never wanted you to die… I never wanted to kill you…” he was breathing hard and couldn’t speak, his eyes darting back in forth wildly as he lost consciousness. “It’ll be alright, Robern you can get through this…” I was reassuring him.
“Hmm, you’re right I can’t take that chance.” came the voice behind me followed quickly by a deafening bang which left my ears ringing loudly. The man had picked up Robern’s gun and had shot him in the head with it. I could feel myself screaming but the ringing in my ears kept me from hearing it. I felt a boot on my back which left me sprawled across the floor. I turned to see the man had now turned the gun on me, my hearing was returning. “Know I get no joy from this, Eobard. I will do anything in my power to get The Flash’s speed, you would do the same.” he cocked the gun and smirked at his cunning. “You killed your brother and when you couldn’t give yourself speed, well, you turned the gun on yourself.”
I pushed myself off the ground and lunged at him just as he pulled the trigger, I could feel a shooting pain in my leg as the bullet ripped a hole in it. Still, I was able to tackle him to the ground, my notebook flying off to land in Robern’s blood. The man cried out as the pages were quickly stained red. He thew me off and ran over to retrieve the book. I landed close to the suit that I, only moments ago, was so desperate to get my hands on. Remembering the syringe in my pack I quickly crawled closer to the suit, my injured leg aching and leaving a trail of blood as I pulled myself along. I reached my bag and weakly pulled the syringe out just as the man turned to see me. “What’s that?!” I ignored him and pulled myself closer to the suit. “That’s for speed isn’t it?! Give it to me!”
[ part 14 soon ]
he let out a chuckle that made my skin crawl with disgust, my face contorting with rage as I walked towards them. “Stop walking Eobard!” Robern shouted again but I wasn’t thinking clearly enough to be scared, my mind working overtime as it tried to find some way to stop me from getting shot, trying to find some weakness to exploit. “Or what, Robern!?” I shrieked “You’ll shoot your own brother! I’m like this because of you!” his eyes flickered momentarily with doubt, that moment was all I needed. I lunged forward and with all my might, shoved Robern who lost his balance and stumbled backwards. I had just wanted to push him over and try to punch the man who stole my work but as Robern fell backwards, he fell into the door frame, the door frame that because of me was ringed with shards of broken glass. He let out a pained cry as a large glass shard thrust up through his chest.
Instantly, my anger turned to panic and my hot blood went cold as I ran over to kneel beside him, the large pool of blood quickly forming around him staining my pant knees red. I could hear the man behind me stuttering “Y-you killed him…” I was crying again “Call an ambulance quick!” I wasn’t a killer. I didn’t want to be a killer. It was just supposed to be one little wrong deed. No one was supposed to get hurt. I turned as tears streamed down my face and dripped into my brother’s blood. The man behind me was, instead of calling for help, just thoughtfully looking at his phone. “What’s wrong with you?! He’s dying!” I pleaded through my sobs. “Yes, I see that, but if he dies… you’ll go to jail and well, people in jail can’t sue me for stealing their work.”My mouth was hanging open in horror at what the man had just said. Is this what people were like? Is this the kind of person I had spent my whole life wanting to protect? “Just take it!” I cried “Just take the work I don’t care just please save my brother!!”
[ and thus the story darkens, tune in tomorrow for the next part. Or maybe later tonight ]
I crawled carefully through the large hole I had created in the glass door. I reached down and slowly picked up the rock I had used. Walking quickly, I made my way over to the glass around The Flash’s suit. One more deep breath and I slammed the rock inter the glass. It shattered and rained down, scratching my hand as I was standing too close. My head bled slowly but I ignored the pain and started to reach out towards the suit. My future was right ahead of me; I could almost touch it.
“Stop!!” The shout from behind me made my blood run cold and my stomach drop. My shaking hand wasn’t quite on the suit yet, still I raised them slowly and shakily into the air. “Turn around! Now!” I slowly began to turn, tears stinging my eyes and clouding my vision. “Stop there!” that voice, it sounded so familiar. My brain rushed to place it and when it did I let out a gasp. The man did the same. “Eobard, is that you?” suddenly the lights came on and I blinked quickly to try to see. I could feel my hand bleeding quicker now, as it ran down my up stretched arm and dripped to the floor in a small puddle. Finally my eyes cleared and I gazed across the room into the face of my brother, Robern. He had his gun pointed at me and looked just as shocked as I was, “I always knew you were messed up in the head, Eobard. I never realized how much.” As I tried to speak my voice shook “Robern, you don’t understand.” mentally I was kicking myself. Mom had said he was coming into town tonight, a member of the science police, in central city on the night I tried this.
"Oh, so just to clarify we have science police in the future. I mean we need to make sure we know who’s studying what, we can’t have just anyone messing around with time travel for example, and, well, the secrets of The Flash’s speed were also pretty high on the list of things not to study by yourself, which is why I always carried that Flash notebook with me."
- “You know the study of speed outside of the Flash Museum is illegal, Eobard. Don’t fight your brother. Do the right thing. Turn yourself in before the rest of my squad gets here."
[as the story comes to a close i'll be posting a lot faster]
By this time Henrey, the security guard who I knew well, would be checking the labs, the labs which I had always dreamed about working in but would now only see in the pictures I’d gotten from Henrey from the time when I bribed him with candy. Suddenly, a sinister thought ran into my mind. From all the way back in the labs, Henrey wouldn’t be able to hear what was happening out front, and out front was where The Flash suit was. “No… Eobard what are you doing…” I mumbled to myself as I reached into my backpack to see if I had brought my notebook. With a sigh I remembered I had left it at home. Instead, my hand closed around something metallic which I quickly pulled out. It was a syringe filled with red chemicals, my latest attempt to duplicate the Flash’s speed, but forever incomplete without the Speed Force trapped in the old suit. I hadn’t quite told my friend all I knew earlier today, I had left out the Speed Force, and while I didn’t know much about the mystic energy, I knew it was the key to achieving speed. I had all the right chemicals in my hand, I just needed that force. I was so close, only one street away from being the next Flash.
I didn’t quite know what I was planning to do but I stood up and left the bar, my mind racing as I quickly crossed the dark street. As I stood in front of the doors to the museum I could feel my heart beating wildly in my chest, “It’s just one bad thing… it’s not even that bad… no one will get hurt and I’m only doing this because I’ll be able to do so many more good things after I have speed…” Finally, I kneeled down, picked up a rock and held my breath as I threw it hard into the glass doors. As I had hoped, they shattered. I could hear my heart beating in my ears now; my hands were sweaty fists as I crawled carefully through the large hole I had created in the glass door.
