This is good news! ๐Ÿ˜€ These results suggest that WE can significantly reduce our risk of developing certain cancers. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

This newly published study investigated 1,570,975 cancer cases, 26 cancer types, and 17 modifiable risk factors.

The top risk factors related to cancer diagnoses and deaths were smoking, overweight, and alcohol consumption.
.
BUT, of the 17 modifiable risk factors investigated, 8 were related to diet and exercise. These 8 risk factors accounted for approximately 20.8% and 18.1% of newly diagnosed cancer cases and cancer-related deaths, respectively.

The diet/exercise risk factors and the percentage of cancer diagnoses attributable to that risk factor are presented below:

Excess Body Weight: 7.8%
Alcohol consumption: 5.6%
Physical inactivity: 2.9%
Inadequate fruit/vegetable intake: 1.9%
Inadequate fiber intake: 0.9%
Processed meat intake: 0.8%
Red meat consumption: 0.5%
Inadequate calcium intake: 0.4%

Making the crucial decision to start on a healthy lifestyle, is the hardest part of this journey. It's getting over that indecisive choice of whether you should start now or later. People put way too much negative thoughts into this process. Thinking, I'll still have time, I have no time, it will take way too long to reach my goals, etc. Instead of thinking, I'll be healthier, I will fit it into my schedule, who cares how long it takes, I am worth this effort!! If we would just do more instead of doubting everything, we could be happier & healthier.
