So much to be thankful for. A successful thru with my two loves, our health (even after a thru!), an engagement, amazing family and friends, and beautiful trails and hot springs moments from our front door! Now let's eat some turkey!
"Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best." [Henry Van Dyke]
Personal thought: It's not whether we do or do not have a specific talent. It's how much of that talent we possess. This quote hit me a few days ago and made me realize I need to value ANY talent I have, even if it's small. I often find it hard to focus on my talents... Or even consider that word in the plural sense. I see so many skilled experts out in the world, whether professionally or in recreation, and think I have nothing more to offer because they already know everything there is to know, but if we all did that, then it would be a very linear world with no creativity, difference change or outward thinking.
Photo taken in Montana along the 450 Fitz-Barn route, where I surprised even myself with my ability to finish in under 3 days and overcome numerous mental obstacles.
I love the depths of sheer audacity and courage and adventure that drives us little humans to climb the highest peaks, and the way this paradoxically reinforces our strength while highlighting our extreme frailty. and when considering that the Mountain-Shaper gave shape and breath and scope to each human heart... oh, it humbles the proud and raises up the lowly, for in this realization we find utter equality between naked human souls. || “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor.”
