A little bit country, a little bit cottage, this Burlanes bathroom pays witness to this beautiful home's century-past beginnings; a stunning converted barn tucked away in the Kent countryside. White walls, earthen tiles and a freestanding bathtub complement the barn's original wooden beams perfectly, creating a spacious, private oasis to relax and unwind #burlanes
Day 43, 384.5: Do not let this picture fool you. This was the scariest day for both of us on the trail. The weather for us as we hiked over Roan Mountain, Jane Bald, and passing through Carvers Gap is referred to as "Hurricane Roan". The fog was so thick we couldn't see ten feet in front of us. The rain was stinging because of how windy it was. We knew we had to get to Overmountain Shelter because the only other shelter in reasonable distance was soaked. Overmountain is a hiker meca. It is a converted barn that has an eating area on the bottom floor and sleep space for on this night at least 20. In all there were probably 30 people here with us after escaping the storm. We did take about a two mile detour at the end of our hike down Overmountain Victory Trail. On the plus side the views were amazing. We seemed to have hiked over old farm land. The downside is we added two miles or a little more on an already tough day. Life moves on and we're headed to town to resupply and hike right back out tomorrow. The month outside continues!
