Baking with cousins. 😍 Dove is determined and working hard with the goal of winning her school's baking contest at their Fall Festival. I keep telling her that it's fun to bake together and support her school; winning doesn't matter. She tells me, "Mommy I know that, but I really think we will win." ... Well, that would be nice after how much time we spent looking at Pinterest and cleaning the kitchen...
We've been baking. Now the kids are that bit older it was genuinely enjoyable rather than some kind of torture. They really enjoyed it and I let the girlchild do more cutting and turning the oven on. Another mum was talking about kids and knives the other day and it made me realise I probably should trust them a bit more, especially the girlchild as she really is capable of doing so much more. You spend so long fearing stuff but they have to develop their independence. Downside of the baking is that I've eaten 3 gingerbread women. 😬 #baking#bakingwithkids#cookingwithkids#cookingwithmommy#cookingwithmum#cookingwithmummy#gingerbreadwoman
And we are baaaaaaack! Getting your bambino chefs to eat their Brussels sprouts shouldn't be complicated: have your resident chef help you rinse them, cut them (with a kid friendly knife and lots of supervision), toss them with oil, salt and pepper, spread the veggies on the baking sheet. All is left to do is to roast these beauties in the oven (abt 450F, 15-20 min) until golden brown and crisp. And since we are talking about Brussels sprouts, we have tasted really yummy ones at @oralemk 💚
FRESH PIZZA SAUCE RECIPE 🍅🍅🍅#gardentotable with help from our little Roisin! Finely chop fresh tomatoes and drain the liquid, add olive oil, salt and oregano. So easy, so tasty, so healthy!!! We put ours on our pizza base with no cheese and popped it in the oven for a #vegan lunch. It's great how excited the girls are becoming about helping me make meals! #familyfirst#cookingwithkids#healthyeating#activitiesforkids
Sooooo....I've just made these amazing oat cookies as a treat for my poorly boy using the @annabelkarmel recipe. I added cinnamon to ours which definitely helped mask the vomit smell from last nights catastrophe. And guess what he did...he peeled all the biscuit off to just eat the raisins 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I guess that means more for me then..just need to fret him to nap so I pop the kettle on 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Cooking with the kids usually fills me with a little dread - the mess and chaos can be a bit much. However @bkdlondon have changed my mind and Teddy and I LOVED trying out their bake at home Circus cupcake kit. There are details on the blog about this amazing brand started up by one fabulous mum. A fab Half Term activity to try with the little ones #cookingwithkids#lifestyleblogger#halfterm
Just discovered mug cakes and starting work on some good dairy free versions! This carrot cake needs some more work, but seriously love the concept. Especially ingredient lists that come in spoonfuls and the fact they can be made in under 5 mins- perfect for cooking with a 3 year old who can't use scales yet and has an attention span of, yep, you guessed it, about 5 minutes! #mugcakes#cake#cookingwithkids#isittooearlyforcake#halftermfun#monday

Rainy public holiday today. Perfect kind of day for weekly lunch box treat making. This weeks request from my girl were those bliss balls 👆🏽(had to half the recipe because someone got into the medjool dates and ate most of them 👉🏽👦🏽) We also made some coconut bread with lemon 🍋 icing because why wouldn't we 👌🏽
The girl made her first batch of cranberry juice. She even got to me use the food mill.
Truth be told. It was a fun process but I need to get a better recipe. I tried to use honey instead of sugar and we didn’t like it, so we added sugar. Then we added lime and it helped with the flavor but it didn’t taste really decent until we added apple cider.
Just another tasty lesson in the all natural kitchen 👩🏻🌾 Update:
The juice tastes much better after being refrigerated overnight. Still very tart but I only used about 8 tablespoons of sweetener. I’m guessing most recipes would call for a cup of sugar.
