What yoga has taught me 🙆🏼 2 years ago today we took this photo on top of Glendalough in County Wicklow. I began doing yoga in my bedroom 3 years ago with @adrienelouise on YouTube. Partially for fitness but mostly for my anxiety and stress levels. I have suffered with anxiety for a very long time. Along with that I was working in an industry that didn’t fit right. I never felt good enough in the finance world (even though I was capable and passed my exams like everyone else) I always felt like I didn’t belong. I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t have drive to progress. I didn’t have anything to give to that industry. Yoga gave me self awareness. I was more than this. I was more than settling in a comfy job because I earned a wage. I could do more with my talents. My biggest talent? My massive heart being honest. My will to help others. It’s always been there. I did a short course in care when I was 19. So last year I studied personal training in Australia but as time went on my vision changed. I didn’t want to be a personal trainer in a gym. It was the easy option but what fun would that be 😉 I came home from Oz and went straight into yoga teacher training and again, my vision has changed. Yoga has taught me to listen inwards. Get in touch with that gut feeling. Listen to it. Do what feels right. And now 2 years later I am coming towards the end of my course.Towards starting a business from scratch to help others find self awareness. Encourage them to learn about the importance of movement and your breath, both through fitness and yoga.
The point to this story? I don’t know 😂 I am just giving you an insight into me and I guess how yoga, my mental health awareness and my life has led me in 2 years after this photo. I am someone who has done a 180 in both personal life and career life. Is it easy? No. Not at all. But it’s worth it knowing I wake up excited about what’s to come in my career life and personal life ❤️ So if you’ve never tried yoga, give it a go at home. Sign up to a 30 day challenge and I bet it will change your life 🌟 I thank Adriene for encouraging me onto my mat 3 years ago and still, today 💕
YOU need a BREAK!! You really need a good stretch after #sitting at a #desk for hours on end. Nothing fancy, just a forward fold or a #back#release , get up, #walk around, #reach for the #sky ... DO SOMETHING and do it often. #YogaInHouse can show you how. The fact of the matter is people like to feel good and they feel better after a mini break. No, not to the break room or kitchen, not to text your #friends , not a break to check #emails ... A REAL BREAK! Try these simple chair #stretches right at your desk! Be a trend setter, your office will thank you. Or, let @YogaInHouse come to your #workplace and take the stigma away. It's actually really cool to love your #body and treat it with #respect at work and it's super easy too!
Ardha Baddha Padmottonaasana
If having difficulty with this asana in ashtanga practice, seek modification from your teacher ... practice with modification to avoid injury ...off to teach a much simpler yoga session in corporate office .... "This asana comes early in the Ashtanga primary series. But it often stops students in their tracks, demanding that they recognize their limitations in a very tangible way. To achieve the illusion of the pose, and to move on in the sequence, students commonly push past their limits and distort the posture. They'll bend the knee of the standing leg, push the shoulder out of alignment to clasp the foot, or twist the knee instead of opening the hip to get into Standing Half-Bound Lotus.
But a posture done with integrity is much more beautiful than one based in ego and illusion. Beyond that, the tendency to push is not useful and can lead to a host of injuries. Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana is a pose worth learning for any student—it challenges the hips, ham-strings, and shoulders, and it requires balance. But a better alternative to forcing the pose is to cultivate the qualities of restraint and intelligence......" (https://www.yogajournal.com/practice/true-to-yourself) #ardhabaddhapadmottanasana

These office yogis work right in downtown SF and like much of the Bay Area have been breathing in the Sonoma fire smoke for the past week. Today we started with some cleansing kapalabhati breathwork and added in some extra grounding asanas to counteract the uncertain energy surrounding the fires and the shifting seasons. 🍂

It's #TransformationTuesday ! What are you doing to change yourself for the better? We are currently preparing to speak on the Women in #leadership panel at #SDSU on Thursday. It's a honor to be asked to speak in front of future small business #entrepreneurs and provide them guidance on how to create their own #success . This year has not only been busy, but also super #rewarding . We've added new clients and new #students all over #LosAngeles , traveled the world and at the same time continue to improve our own yoga practice. I think the biggest #transformation I can pinpoint is the passion I have for my #career . Besides the #physical benefits of #yoga , helping others become mentally #healthy and #positive has had a huge effect on how I feel about myself. Listen, haters are always gonna hate, but that's their problem and they probably just need a little yoga and #meditation to be honest. 😉 Not everyone is going to "get" what you do, but if it feeds your #soul and gives you purpose that's all that matters. Spreading #health , love and #positivity wasn't always me, but it became me. I'm kind of that annoyingly #happy person now or maybe I've always been, but now I can channel it into a career that values it. We are dynamic creatures with the ability to expand our consciousness with change. Not big HUGE scary change, but the kind that comes in small doses, evolves on its own and becomes who we are eventually. #YogaInHouse
P R A C T I C E | yoga both on and off the mat; maybe correcting your posture when you find yourself hunching over your computer or deepening and lengthening the breath when you notice your feeling a little anxious #liveyoga#takecontrol#calmthemind
Hi friends! I'm trying to build my clients and spread corporate yoga throughout South Jersey/Philadelphia. If you or someone you know happens to work in an office or with a corporation that you think might be interested in having someone come teach a class before/during/after work please let me know! Same goes for friends who have parents that work in corporate settings as well! Corporate yoga is becoming my passion and my dream is for this to be my full time work :) •
Here is just one of the many reviews I've received since teaching corporate yoga: "As a beginner yogi, I had no idea what to expect from yoga. Theresa makes learning the practice of yoga enjoyable and very calming. I have found that yoga at work is the perfect way to relax and get away from the days' insanity. Even after returning to work from yoga, the calmness stays with you. Theresa has a very soothing way about her that transfers to her students. I look forward to our sessions and advancing in my practice."

Tuesday yogi nerds alert😊
Our first chakra of the week is Muladhara.
This first chakra create the foundation for all the other chakra.
It is you root chakra which you can find at the base of the spine, it includes the pelvic floor and the first 3 vertebrae.
This chakra when in balance will bring you stability and a feeling of feeling secure and safe.
If your chakra is imbalance you will feel feel sensation of anxiety or fear. In the physical aspect you may experience lower back pain, problems with colons, bladder or legs/feet.
How to balance your chakra with Asanas :
Malasana squat pose can be a great one also as lotus pose, feeling grounded while activating the bandhas (body locks).
These are 2 of many postures that can help you but you can always ask your teacher for some more ideas next time you are in class!
Being in aware and constantly working with the breath and mulabandha will help you to strengthen this fort chakra.
Colour of this chakra : red. ➡️ next time you are on your mat try to keep your focus on the first chakra region and see how it feels👌
The yoga mat is the best therapist, everything gets better with yoga!

Gratitude is not only about being thankful for the good things in our life but is about being thankful for every (single) thing in our life. ✨✨
Contentment is simply to be happy with what we have, where we are and who we are. Typically, we think of contentment as being mindful of what we have and not taking anything for granted. Instead looking outside for happiness, it is peace that comes from within. This is contentment.
It is simple yet deep.
What are you grateful and content for? ✨✨
Today, entire day, every moment.
Happy vibes + hearts + joy + gratitude.
Heart beats (and melts!) & words can't even describe.
I don't know if there are contentment and gratitude overload but here I am writing expressing yes, one big + juicy yes!!🙌🏻
Deepest, warm heartfelt.💜💜
ps: you seriously rock, you inspired me, I'd love to say I'm a big fan of you!!💝 _
Current feels. Xxxx
Some of this mornings flow ✨I am so aware how lucky I am that I was in a position with the support of my family and husband to leave my office job and start a fresh. Recently I've been inspired to start looking outside my immediate world to see how I can make a difference to those around me who are working the office jobs, the crazy long hours, the jobs that make our world go around. How I can use what I do now to make your week a better one! If anyone has any ideas of how I can help you, please tell me and let's try and make it happen! Hope this inspires you to have a little wriggle over lunch or this evening ✌️ #exeteryoga#yogavids
