Since it's New York Bridal Fashion week, let's talk about fictional wedding dresses. Now Belle's new dress has been defined by @disney as a 'celebration' dress but, you know, a wedding is a celebration and it's white, sooo it counts here.☺️ I love it! Costume designer Jacqueline Duran did a wonderful job on @beautyandthebeast and this dress was a stunning addition to Belle's iconic wardrobe. This will go down as a favourite of mine. •
What's your favourite fictional wedding dress? Is it from these live-action retellings, like Cinderella and her beautiful splash of colourful embroidery. Is it from an animation, like The Little Mermaid, do you just love those puffy sleeves? Is it from an old classic like 'High Society'? If you haven't watched it you should!
Also did you know Jacqueline designed for Keira Knightley in Atonement, Pride & Prejudice AND Anna Karenina!!
Because I have been getting DMs about my progress on Samus, I'll just explain everything as I post updates to save time.
I've developed a pivot system for Samus' gravity-defying shoulder armor to stay on my shoulders. I made the round shoulder armor last year but all you need to do is cover a basketball with foil or seran wrap tightly, use painter's tape or masking tape to cover the entire ball, draw out your template and extract the tape covered foil/seran wrap from the ball with scissors (or a box cutter if you're brave enough). There are lots of tutorials on YouTube on how to make a dome shape.
Next I cut out a 4 inch strip of foam and heated it to the shape in the picture featured in the upper right which will act as the "pivot." The detail on the bicep armor was cut at a 45° angle which will allow the shoulder armor to be glued with better contact all around to the bicep armor.
A small cut at the opposite side of the shoulder armor allows it to nest atop my shoulder comfortably.
