Iconic singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and animal defender Xavier Rudd has teamed up with PETA for a new ad to show his veggie pride and encourage his fans to live and let live by going vegetarian.

Hot on the heels of releasing his new album, Spirit Bird, Xavier sat down with PETA US for an exclusive interview and musical performance during which he explained why he won’t even consider eating meat. “My biggest problem with society now is the mass production and no one even considering all those lives that are being factory farmed for human greed”, he says, adding, “I don’t need to eat meat. I can exist very healthily without it”. As Xavier’s ad points out, all living beings deserve to be free. But most animals raised and killed by the meat industry never get to run, fly, explore, choose their mate, raise their young or even feel the warmth of the sun on their backs. Instead, they are crammed by the hundreds or thousands inside dark sheds, filthy feedlots or tiny cages until they are killed. During 2011, Australia slaughtered more than 7 million cattle, almost 700,000 calves, nearly 5 million sheep and 18 million lambs, more than 4.5 million pigs and almost 550 million chickens.

Raising animals for food also takes a heavy toll on the environment – another issue that is close to Xavier’s heart. Australian animal agriculture is responsible for more than 30 per cent of the country’s greenhouse-gas emissions, and the billions of pounds of manure that factory farms produce each day pollute rivers, lakes and drinking water.

Fortunately, like Xavier, we can make a world of difference for animals, the Earth and our own health simply by filling our plates with delicious vegetarian foods. As Xavier says, “We live in a lucky, lucky society, where we can eat beautiful, healthy, sustainable veggies, to keep us going forever”. Ready to see why Xavier and so many others are proud to be vegetarian? Go vegan today!

In any event, it is always best to maintain the highest standards. This generally benefits all those concerned and raises the level of thought and being. Wisdom loses much of its inherent beauty in an attempt to transfer it from the higher to the lower, concrete mind. The mountain stands and the valley cannot help but see it. Should the mountain reach down to the valley, it is no longer a mountain. Thus the individual with the Ninth House Part of Fortune, seeking the joys of nature and the experience of cosmic reality, must learn to live and function in an everyday world of ideas and thoughts which seem to be of lesser importance. She must not only tolerate these ideas, but understand how necessary they are, as the valley is necessary. The valley is the ground upon which the mountin stands. While finding it difficult to understand why people plod through life the hard way, she must nevertheless let them. For if she stops to correct the ideas and attitudes of others, she can easily get bogged down and deprive herself of the joy that is waiting for her along her unique path. ⛰

I've always believed that big corporations rule the world but this just reiterated it. No wonder the organizations who are fundraising to help with diabetes, cancer, and other illnesses will never be able to fully speak out... look at who they are funded by!! And this doesn't even include big pharma which is an industry that literally relies on people being and staying sick (don't get me started on them 😡😡). Definitely worth the watch!! Check out What the Health on #netflix or online through their website #stillbelievethatshitisgoodforyou?? #corporationsruletheworld #immovingtoatropicalisland

Sugiro fortemente que TODOS assistam ao documentario "What the health". Tem na Netflix.

Our health is so delicate. One sickness, one fall could send us spiraling downwards. There's no one authority figure to tell us what's right for our body. Not our Mum, our fav health guru and definitely not all the fad health trends out there. It's up to us. To listen to our bodies and give it the nutrients it needs to bring us up and keep us there. It's our temple, not our graveyard 💛

I had a dream last night that I saw a dairy calf chained up at a shop being sold for veal. I offered to pay for him but they wouldn't sell him to me, so I took him anyway. I had so many people coming after me trying to take him back... but I would not let him go.
I felt just as protective over him as I would my nieces or newphews. He was just as innocent, even more innocent. I ended up passing him through a window to someone who helped take him away... But then he ended up back in my arms again trapped inside this place with me where people were trying to take get him so he could be slaughtered.
Google the video in the pic if you dare to see what happens to dairy calves...

If you promise to do one thing this week, make sure you watch WHAT THE HEALTH‼️ @wthfilm Such an eye opening film by the creators of #cowspiracy revealing one of the biggest health cover ups to date!
The film shows in depth research from medical professionals that prove nutritional intervention and a plant based diet can not only prevent chronic diseases but actually reverse the effects. After just two weeks, people were actually able to come off their medications completely by ridding their body of all inflammation!! 🙃

So how about those pharmaceutical industries... Did you know that 80% of pharmaceuticals are produced for livestock? - which you in turn ingest, making antibiotic resistance an all time high. Not only that, but the small percentage of pharmaceuticals that are actually designed for humans are not for prevention or cure or even for the short term. They are a long term solution that will just simply cover up symptoms, whilst having a negative and sometimes dangerous impact on other parts of your body!
I am so grateful I will soon be in a position to help people in similar situations ❤️ Turn off love island and get involved 😉
I don't normally write such long posts but this is a topic close to my heart. I would love to hear other people's opinions on this subject? 😊

For dessert, carbs. Onion, mushroom and spinach pizza.
Very satisfying.

I try to keep my preachy vegan posts to a minimum, BUT I've seen a lot of people posting all this stuff about climate change lately and then moments later posting some meat based meal... The meat industry is THE BIGGEST source of pollution in the world. So, if you consume meat and also claim to be concerned with the environment you are either a hypocrite, ignorant, or both. Sorry for the rant, I promise my next post will be Luella or an animal.🤙🏻

📽💛"Do what you can do, as well as you can do it, every day of your life, and you will end up dying one of the happiest individuals that had ever died" Today's choices of documentary have really opened my eyes to a different lifestyle choice! Not only that but the effects that eating a certain way has on the environment. If you don't care then that's fine too but it's worth a watch of both #Cowspiracy and #WhattheHealth 👌🏻 job well done Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn!! "You can change the world. 😔 RP @christian_the_herbivore Crazy to read, huh? That's what we do though. Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force them to continue producing milk, factory farm operators typically impregnate them using artificial insemination every year. 🐮 Calves are generally torn away from their mothers within a day of birth, which causes them both extreme distress. Mother cows can be heard calling for their calves for days. 🐮 Male calves are destined to end up in cramped veal crates or barren feedlots where they will be fattened for beef, and females are sentenced to the same sad fate as their mothers.

It's been a while since I last made these vegan burgers, but recently someone requested the recipe so I thought I'd share it here as well!
. *For 7-8 patties you need:
-1.5 Cups (150gr) rolled oats
-1 Cup (70gr) soy mince
-1-2 tbsp poultry seasoning (make sure it's vegan!)
-1-2 tbsp parsley
-1 Cup (250 ml) boiling water
. *Instructions:
-Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
-Add the water and let it sit and chill for 20 minutes, stirring from time to time so everything hydrates properly.
-Form the patties with your hands.
-Cook on a pan over medium heat until brown on both sides. That's it!

It's been a while since I last made these vegan burgers, but recently someone requested the recipe so I thought I'd share it here as well! . *For 7-8 patties you need: -1.5 Cups (150gr) rolled oats -1 Cup (70gr) soy mince -1-2 tbsp poultry seasoning (make sure it's vegan!) -1-2 tbsp parsley -1 Cup (250 ml) boiling water . *Instructions: -Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. -Add the water and let it sit and chill for 20 minutes, stirring from time to time so everything hydrates properly. -Form the patties with your hands. -Cook on a pan over medium heat until brown on both sides. That's it! The patties you won't be eating can be wrapped in single packages of parchment paper and stored in the freezer.
