This book encourages kids to use simple materials to create their own dress-ups to play in. With scissors, foil and glue, two girls make shell crowns and transform into mermaids, complete with rubber glove tails - they're fantastic! The illustrations show the girls both in their crafted costumes and a more realistic, imaginary version, exploring rock pools and resting upon rocks. When the girls are offered extra cardboard and buttons, they also create fairy wings and cat masks, inspiring new games. The book ends with an irrisistible invitation for little readers to create costumes of their own.
The illustrations are bright and fun, designed to inspire play and there's crafty endpapers too.
The Magic in Dress-Ups is written and illustrated by Brisbane author and educator #ChrissyByers @books_by_chrissy_byers.
It follows her first children's book The Magic in Boxes, which also encourages kids to craft and play with everyday items. Both books are printed on recycled paper.👍 #bookstagram#kids#bibliophile#instabook#booklover#bookworm#fun#sweet#craft#play
