Call me crazy, but I love the pairing...this big, bold, honest rye is less than 4 years old, aged in smaller barrels. The color is beautiful, deep and dark amber. The nose is green apple jolly rancher, cotton candy and vanilla. It's a spirit forward, barrel strength, and I think it's a fantastic first Rye whiskey showing for MB Roland. Wednesdays we do our column run, the spirit run that produces the base of Per Se Vodka and Ampersand Gin. It starts with an early morning firing up of the stills and a careful cut as we reach the heart of the distillation. Also on the docket, BOTTLING!
