At Arcana our whole wheat is now produced in Loveland, CO by @rootshootmalting. Then our friends @bastaboulder let me use their stone mill to turn the grains into flour and I take that back to the restaurant to use in our bread! Without a doubt, the flour makes the most delicious bread I've ever baked. 🙏🙌

Started the first 2017 batch of the #BaronesseBarley from @josephsgrainery. We're very excited to combine our now refined malting skills with this new batch of Baronesse which is much plumper than our first batches and thus should have the same great flavor, but improved extract and kernel size for easy milling.
Here we are loading the steep tank, inspecting the barley, and the steep in action.
Sat in on Senator Bennet's listening session on the 2018 Farm Bill at the CSU Agricultural Research, Development, and Education Center, and got to share about craft malting. Beer is agriculture, but this Farm Bill doesn't just impact the supply chain, it can be a positive impact on everyone with its reach into research and education, nutrition, social programming, conservation, trade, disaster relief, rural development as well as urban impacts, and on and on.
