We have so much to be grateful for in this life. Each and every day. But reality is that sometimes constant life demands, struggles, and worries give more room to defeat than to a heart of thanks. Or we forget, in the midst of busyness and pressures, just to pause and give thanks....🙌🏼🙌🏽🙌🏾🙌🏿- #soulfoodsunday#Repost @kiaralanier
In deep conversation about how it is COMPLETELY OKAY to fail a few thousand times. Failure is a GREAT thing, yes you read that correctly. Disappointment, failure and those times we hit rock bottom are crucial to defining the strongest, greatest parts of ourselves we never even knew existed or we are capable of having. Shout out to all of you, who like us are still failing sometimes but pushing through and figuring it out more and more after each failure. @uogeorgia this was such a fantastic event and outlet. Keri, @hollyoddly , @thecrybabyclubofficial you da best. 💗
ACTORS... SINGERS... roll up roll up!
Hey guys... If you're a "creative" in any sense of the word then this post may interest you- if you're not a Singer/Actor then swipe to the end to watch my little video, if you ARE then these exercises may help you...
I've complied this set of exercises for those of you that are trying to live a healthy lifestyle but struggle to "release" enough when it comes to auditions, singing or performing.
The above are just a few short snippets of exercises I do to release my abdominal wall (and neck & shoulders too!) before performing.
It's hard for the body to differentiate between exercise & performing- the abdominals just automatically grip thinking we're doing something strenuous that NEEDS MEGA SUPPORT. As much as that's semi-true it's the release & our breathing that's going to help us the most.
CLIP 1- Splat Breathing, Cat/Cow & Hip Circles: on your splat breathing exhale al the air out of the mouth then allow the breath to just automatically re-enter the body allowing the diaphragm & belly to "SPLAT"- repeat as many 5-10 times.
On your Cat/Cow inhale to dip the belly & look up, exhale to arch the spine upwards.
CLIP 2- Lip Trills through full vocal range! 🎼 On this guys you may fail & you also may spit everywhere... that's OK! 😉 Just really try and focus on keeping the abs released through the whole range. It gets better over time I promise!
CLIP 3- Shoulder, Neck & Upper Back release: Really work the "resistance in this exercise, if the elbows just fly really high up you need to pull down and back with the shoulders more. It's quite strenuous but it's 👌 for neck release which is KEY as performers.
Also try patting the belly to check it's released like you see in this clip. I promise it works wonders too!
Letting the abs release can be hard. Cos' unfortunately the ego gets in the way. Our craving to "have a flat belly" or be "slimmer" or whatever... but actually who cares? For me as a performer I know I NEED to release and being a performer is way more important to me than how my belly looks.

There is no feeling quite like being told by a client that we have exceeded their expectations and are over the moon with the finished results. @fravocadodevon - it was an absolute pleasure and can't wait for it to go public tomorrow!

"Imagination needs moodling—long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling, and puttering." —Brenda Ueland
I love getting to share this quote +details of another lakeside painting with you. #FWInk over paper collage and acrylic. The past couple of days have been just perfect, filled with inefficiency and wandering. I needed the rest and unstructured time of this place. I'm so very grateful for the hours staring at the lake, playing yard games with Ayron, studying the Word, spending time with family, planting flowers, painting over forgotten canvases, cruising on the waves and watching the gulls dive, and having great conversations with Ayron.
This is a moment and moments don't last, but this present in which my whole being lives is really such a kindness from God. I have felt God calibrating my heart to sing his praises in the painful, mundane, and extraordinary moments over the past eighteen months. There have been a lot of times where things just feel so hard, but praise still comes. So when there are days as incandescent as these, the air seems to vibrate with a sense of holiness.
Just a little reminder of how brave YOU are. No matter how "big" we get, putting our ideas, #art , #talent out into the world is scary Every. Single. Time we do it! We're #creatives we have a right to be sensitive about our shit! 🙌🏾💯 keep sharing your gifts and talents #herpower#notetoself
I heard a talk by @erwinmcmanus and during the talk he said his wife told him to 'never use her or their children as an excuse to not do what God told Him to do'. _________
At the time I was single with no children yet it resonated with me and shifted my perspective. I have forever carried it with me.
Fast-forward, after I had Anna, I was offered what I thought was my dream job, and it required a lot of travel. When considering the offer, I struggled at first but remembered that talk. I told myself I would never use my children as an excuse to not do what God has called me to do or follow my dreams. What a burden to place on children to say I wouldn't step fully into one of things I felt purposed to do because of you. So, I accepted the offer. I learned many lessons. I grew.
From that point on I held the same non-negotiable until recently. It's time to make new decisions and I've used them as an excuse. It's easier than facing my fear. And an excuse is a big difference from your "why". As a single-mother my risk-tolerance is lower, I'm looking at every decision differently because at the end of the day, they look at me with those innocent eyes, wanting answers. But y'all, I've used this as an excuse to indulge my fear not as fuel to dream bigger.
I needed this reminder to myself. My promise to my little lady bugs is to allow them to be my "why" and never an excuse to not do what God has called me to do and follow my dreams.
Got a good podcast list? We'd love to hear your favourites. In our ears right now? This lady----> @jencarrington_ 🙌 on Season 5 of her podcast, Make it Happen and we have been so inspired listening to her pearls of wisdom and all of her interviewees (including @me_and_orla, @megan_minns and @melyssa_griffin to name a few) #thecollectivecommunity#learntolive#inspirationoverdrive
Ugh. I really don't want to leave. I honestly expected to be ready to go home a few days into this journey, but I never got to that point. I'm actually going to miss it. I've loved being in LA, meeting new people and serving alongside @ladreamcenter. You know what, even driving around here isn't that bad once you figure it all out. (I won't miss it though...)
