Not only is it the title of an amazing Spike Lee movie...its also the way I govern my life and my business. Turmoil comes from making decisions to do things that are unnatural or wrong.
If you are taking critical shortcuts to increase revenue or if you're withholding pertinent information from customers & employees, the time will come when those secrets will be revealed. Are you prepared for the fallout?
The best way to be prepared is to only participate in honest dealings.
It is possible to be profitable and honest.
JUST DO THE RIGHT THING!!
Do you ever catch yourself, even to yourself, saying things like, "I can't believe she had the nerve to wear that!" Even though little statements like that may seem benign, they may do more harm to your own psyche than you allow yourself to realize. Remember that your subconscious mind is always listening, and it will react to whatever you feed it. Even subtle forms of judgement and criticism are still judgment and criticism, and still have a negative effect on the mind of the one who is doing the judging. This isn't to say that we have to be perfect and never make the mistake of even petty judgment. If we were to be critical of ourselves for that, it would be even more judging. One of the keys to happiness is making the effort to be completly nonjudgmental, even of ourselves, for being judgmental. The term in psychology is unconditional positive regard, which, if you think about it, is a definition for love. No one was ever truly helped by judgment or guilt, which is a form of judgment. We help ourselves, and others through unconditional positive regard. I have said that love is the opposite of selfishness. It has no expectations. Isn't judgment, in any form, some kind of expectation? It is a refusal to accept. The whole, "Judge not that you be not judged" thing means that you can't do it and escape the consequences of it on your own mind. Working on freeing yourself of judgment is actually doing something positive for yourself. It is freeing your mind of the burden that judgment creates. It lightens us up, relaxes us, and gives us more energy and comfort. The truth is that you cannot give any gift of love to anyone without giving it to yourself, and offering love instead of criticism is a gift to yourself that you will not regret. #quoteoftheday#critical#judge#love#recovery#mentalhealth#oktosay#blogpost#blessings#karlyletomms
