I chose this photo because my rounded belly demonstrates my breathing during these box dips.
Inhaling either in between reps or on the eccentric phase (lowering of body).
As I inhale I make sure to expand my abdomen wall and ribs out so that the abdominal organs move out of the way and make room for the diaphragm to descend and therefore allow the lungs to expand and fill up with air.
This type of breathing (as opposed to upper body clavicular breathing) has been proven to provide maximum oxygen capacity.
Best way to start practicing it is by lying on your bed, exhaling all the air you have out and watching your tummy shrink and then opening your mouth once you're desperate for air and allowing the air to fill up your lungs (tummy expands out).
So yeah, totally natural for your tummy to look extra full and round as you're exercising. It means your doing it right. Breath. 😤

So many lessons learned between these two pics. On the left I weigh the same I do on the right (182 lbs). There is about a year and a half between the two. On the left I was running and working out 5-6 times a week for 2-3 hours a day. I was eating everything in front of me and had minimal care about my nutrition. Today I workout 30-60 minutes a day and I have so much more knowledge and put much more care into my nutrition. The results speak for themselves. My body composition is the best it's ever been, I'm as health and strong as I've ever been, and most importantly I'm as happy as I've ever been. Overall health and fitness is a process and what I was doing before has definitely helped me get to where I am today BUT what I do now definitely makes me more sane and keeps me happier overall. Always be open to changing what you are doing if you aren't happy. Your happiness always comes first! 👍🏼💪🏼🤘🏼
