Veg Thali for lunch today 😇🤗 Generally I always make atleast one non-veg item, while making thalis...😶😶
Actually my parents visited this week and brought sooo many veggies to eat, that even after they left I still hv a stock to eat 5 more days..😐 And I simply hate wasting any kind food or food items ever, 👿 so here it goes.... 🙈🙈 Ok so my thali consists of ,
1⃣ Rice 😊
2⃣ Tomato Dal (Lentis soup with lots of tomato, the leftover dal I m gonna have as soup 😋 )
3⃣ Borboti bhaja ( Simple stir fried long beans with jackfruit seeds. I m totally in love with those seeds...and just trying to put them in my dishes here & there 😝😝)
4⃣ Doi Potol (The star of my thali today, Pointed gourd cooked with curd mixture. One old bengali dish, my grandma makes it the best..😥)

On citrus curds - for when you need to put a little joy in your jar: The cat's had my tongue for the last few weeks. Being home with family and old friends made my heart bubble over. But since leaving them, and also being touched by the sadness of others, I feel like I’ve lost my voice a little. Because what gives me joy is what makes me speak. So I suppose I just need to remind myself of what it is that feeds my flow. Every day. That is, after all, what this feed (such synchronicity ☺️) is meant to be about. And it’s not that hard, most of the time, to find reason to feel grateful - if not joyful.
Where I am this week, I don’t have access to all the natural beauty and edible bounty that I usually feel inspired to gabble on about at the farm. But still. The stone fruits are optimistically festooned with downy buds, like fairy lights. And the citrus trees are flashing their last glowing baubles. I am so grateful that in this lean season, these bright, beautiful fruits are hanging in there, filled with comforting sweetness.
Making something special for dear ones, seeing them delighted - this also me gives me joy. And so that is what I’ve decided to do, starting with curds. Specifically: 🍋, lime, orange and mandarine. All homegrown - barring the limes 🙄. Someone (@burger23 👀) forgot to take my lime tree into the greenhouse before the frosts, while I was away…😏 I made these small batches of curd in the microwave, picturing how they'd each result in their own glowing hue. But it seems our backyard feathered friends' yolks turn everything they touch to the same shade of gold ☀️. The curds' individual flavours, though, do hold their own. Bright and true.
And so we finally come to my cunning plan: the 🍊curd is destined for a bake I have in mind, especially for someone who loves that flavour. In the making, I selfishly hope to find more joy - but ultimately, to share it around too 😉
