... nothing seems to fit
Those raindrops keep fallin on my head they keep fallin...🎶
Sadly, not one sectional sofa that we loved or even ones we didn’t would FIT up the stairs to the top floor of the newly created TV- family room.
Sooooo-With the assistance of my upholsterer, I designed a sofa based on the one I loved, to be made in small sections that were created in the shop , assembled so we could make any changes and have a “sit test” as we call it. I even went so far as to make a small scale model of every part to ensure it would fit together like a puzzle before any wood was even cut.
This morning it was all disassembled and delivered and piece by piece passed up 3 floors of narrow steps and sloping ceilings. I held my breath until it was resurrected and put in place. It’s comfortable, beautiful, and omg ,it fits!
So tonight I can sleep.

So here's my horizontal boring machine for dowelling face frames. A cast iron beast from yester-year that was retrofitted when pneumatic air press was FINALLY invented. Might be the third plunger, might be the second foot pedal air valve we've put on it. But it works, it's better than the junk I could go buy today. It's a WAY better way to build frames than modern production methods, yet it's just as fast. It's part of me... it's part of Dutch Mill... we understand each other...
