What do I put in my morning smoothies?? I get asked this a lot as I basically start my day with a smoothie 24/7! My base is frozen banana and the liquid is either water or homemade almond mylk, depending on my budget and laziness levels! Then I add frozen berries, cinnamon (good for blood sugar levels) chia seeds, mixed seeds (like flax and sunflower - an affordable way to get omegas) raw cocoa, Vegan protein powder (normally hemp or hemp seeds- it’s most affordable) baobab powder (tastes yummy and best source of calcium) and a shot of green powder (alkalising) I like my smoothies thick - nothing like eating desert for breakfast! You could add oats and lots of other superfoods and milk substitutes. Quick and yummy!! ❤️🍓🍌

Trying to keep cool today with this berry and almond smoothie🍓I love adding toasted almonds to a smoothie for a bit of a different flavour to your usual berry smoothie🍓🍯🍌 Recipe: 
1 frozen banana
1 handful frozen raspberries 
1 handful frozen blueberries 
1 cup almond milk 
1/3 cup toasted almonds 
Method:
Blend everything together

To be honest I added the oatmeal on top for looks but I mixed it in, trekked to work, and indulged and after the oatmeal has some time to soften it was a delicious addition of flavor and texture! 🍓🍌🍓🍌Strawberry Banana Almond Milk Smoothie 🍓🍓 Let's Boost my iron (absorption!) Ok guys, I have a confession to make today. Not the easy one. After 10 months living an energising vegan lifestyle my body is crying HELP! 😢I miss iron SO much that the doc put me on supplement for 6 weeks. 
Bouhhhh !!! So what did I made wrong on that way to a 'healthier me?' My husband blood test is perfect ! That's just ME ! 
Well, my husband don't drink coffee at all - and he is a man and need less iron too. I drink LOTS of coffee during the day. Did you know that coffee decrease iron absorption by 50%-90%? I didn't. I just learnt this so basically all that lovely iron plant powered food I was eating from oat, beans and green leafy veggie was 'useless' for my body. Well, in term of iron absorption.

So this smoothie is my new morning drink. No more coffee for morning. I am having this simple almond milk smoothie made with unsweetened Almond Breeze Almond Milk. It is loaded with 144% of vitamin C which defo helps to absorb the iron from my oat and soy milk. 
Others switch I made to load my body with 💪💪 plant based iron 💪💪is to introduce tempeh, blackstrap molasses, dried apricot, spirulina, more lentils and more chocolate 🍫🍫 Haha I shouldn't have too much problem with that one ! 
For now, I didn't had meat, just few eggs that is why I qualify myself as vegetarian. But mostly 95% of my plate is still plant based food as it is what I cook for my family. I feel better with the iron tabs supplement, no more leg cramps, not breathless anymore and I can run again. 
But I don't want to live on iron supplement. I want to live an happy 😊 plant based life FREE of iron supplement.

So if you are vegan for a while, tell me did you get anemia at some point ? How did you manage that ?

Tummy has not been feeling well so made an easier to digest breakfast this morning.
I grew up with frequent digestive issues, which subsided after I switched to a more plant-based vegan diet. My tummy is still sensitive sometimes and I may have eaten something that was off.
What I added to the smoothie and why:
• bananas - easy to digest, nutrient rich and creamy
• pineapple and papaya - source of digestive enzymes
• yogurt - source of probiotics, I choose a plain unsweetened dairy free variety.
• turmeric and ginger - help with digestion and inflammation
• chia seeds - source of fiber and gels up in intestines to promote passage
• blueberries - for extra antioxidants
• protein powder - optional, to turn the shake into more of a meal. I use a vanilla flavored vegan protein.

I ended up the year staying in the most beautiful place in the South Island of New Zealand #Queenstown with my little family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧and I feel lucky that the place we rent have a blender to refresh with a smoothie.

Little change for 2018: ALL the recipes will be 100% Clean Eating Vegetarian Recipes. There will still have low carb, vegan, gluten free and paleo recipes. But Sweetashoney will be a #meatfree place. I want this blog to reflect who I am and I tested many different diet those past 5 years. 
I have been on 100% sugar free + low carb for 2 years which works pretty well for me and then switch vegan for 9 months for the love of animal. This one didn't work so well - I was iron defiencient. I found my path with the clean vegetarian diet: a balance of nourishing recipes mainly based on fresh vegetables, fruits, beans and grains. I feel good and I want to share my new healthy vegetarian life with you.

Goodmorning everybody! Breakfast today is chocolate chunk banana icecream with a swirl of dark chocolate. The snow has gone away and it's stopped raining so maybe I'll get to go outside. My classes start on the 1st and the 9th of January and I do NOT want to go back. I'm taking public speaking, lab chemistry, calculus 2, and photography. Lately I've been watching a little bit of America's Next Top Model because of the weather. Last night we also went to see the newest Star Wars and it was EPIC. Chocolate has so many health benefits  and so do bananas so eat up. Enjoy your day!

2017 was the year I decided to start playing with my food again and I’ve had so much fun doing it! I can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring, not only for my sustainable fashion blog but also my creative culinary side that I’ve started to discover 😄 This is the same smoothie base I showed you guys recently: fresh pineapple, coconut milk, frozen coconut and bananas, butterfly pea powder for the blue color and pitaya powder for the pink color. This time I decided to serve it in a pineapple! It’s a bit harder to get the pineapple out when you cut it lengthwise🤣but it wasn’t impossible! It was so fun to eat it like this too. Next I want to use one as the bowl for some homemade pineapple fried rice. It brings back memories of when I studied abroad in Rome and the one Asian restaurant in our neighborhood that delivered had the BEST fried rice and they served it in a pineapple! (And yes, you do stop wanting Italian for every meal if you’re there long enough 😂)🍍🍍🍍

Probably the best smoothie I've ever made. Frozen bananas, tumeric root, ceylon cinnamon, chia seeds, 3 tablesoons of peanut butter and almond milk. Hey everybody! This weekend I'm prepping for final exams. I am then taking finals on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. After that I'm free for about a whole month!!! I started to lose my steam today so I decided to power up with a chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie. Five simple ingredients: cocoa, chunky peanut butter, two bananas, plain almond milk, and a handful of ice cube. It's pretty cold here, it's been hovering around thirty two degrees (Fahrenheit) but it hasn't rained so there's no snow, and the skies are clear. Every morning brings another beautiful sunrise. The sunrise on Thursday was so beautiful: Mount Hood was clearly defined and white, the clouds were pink and orange, the sun was coming up behind the mountain, and the sky was a clear blue. I wanted to take a picture, I even pulled over but my phone camera made it look like a dull orange and the mountain couldn't really be seen. So here is the quandary I'm facing: when I buy a nicer camera should I go with the Nikon D3300 or the Canon T6? I've done some research but I want some opinions on which takes better quality photos. I got hooked on photography with a digital photo class I took and a black and white film photography class that I am currently taking.
