“I read ‘Good Omens' almost twenty years ago. I thought it was one of the funniest, coolest books I’d ever read. It was also, obviously, unfilmable. Two months ago Neil sent me the scripts and I knew I had to be in it.” - Jon Hamm, Actor. ‘Good Omens’ is a tale about the bungling of Armageddon. It features an angel, a demon, an 11-year-old Antichrist and a doom-saying witch. The acclaimed apocalyptic comic novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman is now a TV mini-series. This is the first time ‘Good Omens’ has made it before cameras, but it hasn't been for want of trying. Terry Gilliam attempted to mount a film adaptation of the book back in 2000, with Johnny Depp and Robin Williams eyed to star. Terry Jones was also reported to be in talks to write a proposed TV series adaptation back in 2011. A radio adaptation starring Mark Heap and Peter Serafinowicz debuted on BBC Radio 4 in 2014. Over the course of the next six months filing will take place in London, Oxfordshire and locations in South Africa. Equal parts humour and horror, fantasy and drama, it is written by Neil Gaiman (‘American Gods’) who is serving as Showrunner and will launch in the UK in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video before going on to BBC Two at a later date. Jon Hamm will join a ginger-haired David Tennant and Michael Sheen in the six-part series. The series finds Sheen and Tennant playing an angel and a demon who team up to prevent the impending birth of Satan, as they've grown unusually accustomed to all the everyday delights the UK has given them. Hamm stars as the archangel ‘Gabriel’, Michael Sheen is the best and finest of bookseller angels and David Tennant the coolest and most delightful of demons. The series will be set in 2018, with an apocalypse looming. It will centre around fussy angel, ‘Aziraphale' (Sheen) and ‘Crowley’ (Tennant), a fast-living demon who are both dreading the coming war between the forces of good and evil.
Sherlock is everything if not smooth
Today I slept in, which was really nice. Then I got breakfast/lunch and did last minute packing. Then my big drove me to the airport and I flew home. Then I had some grilled cheese and bread pudding and tea and we watched "the man from Uncle". Tmrw I'm sleeping in.
