My favorite thing about the Angkor Wat Park is the unexpected. I’d done some research in preparation of visiting but there’s SO much there that something will surprise you. For me it was the Causeway leading to the South Gate of Angkor Thom from Angkor Wat. It spans a man made river and has 27 statues on either side “churning” the water (Note: there was no actual churning but the “spirit” of churning you get the idea...). When you think you’re just going on a road from one temple to the next and this pops up as an experience unto itself...that’s why Angkor Wat’s the best.
A closer look at the devas (guardian god statues) and asuras (demon god statues) in the next post. And no, I’m not just doing separate posts because I’m thirsty for likes, the panoramicness of this pic would alter the other images if I posted them together so blame Instagram!
