first ever barre class at 6 am and working til 7 pm is exhibit A of why it's always a good idea to have a big bowl of grains (and fixings) in your fridge. from the #vibrantindia cookbook, this yellow lentil and rice "risotto" is the perfect base for weekend meal prepping. you can prepare the jasmine rice, red lentils and turmeric/ginger base in advance, then fry up cashews, coconut and golden raisins when you're ready to eat. The only thing is I couldn't find asafetida (hing) powder, which feels like it'd be the ultimate game-changer in this. regardless, I'm a fan and on the hunt for hing powder!
cherries + roasted chicken + goat cheese + poppyseed dressing = all the makings of a perfect summer salad 🍒 when my dad visited last weekend for father's day, he ended up surprising me with presents (that's not how it's supposed to work!!) of fresh berries and cherries from PA, and these ceramic "paper plate" dishes. you can't see it because it's covered by the salad, but each plate has a beautiful illustration of a bicycle painted on it 🚲 after last week's pottery crash, I 💛these even more!
i've got armloads full of veggies from @lancasterfarmfresh and a windowsill filled with pots of overflowing herbs 🌱 conditions are perfect for @bonappetitmag's roasted carrots, red onions and fennel with mint 👌🏼love the blend of spices in this: aleppo pepper, hot paprika and coriander, plus a squeeze of lemon and handfuls of fresh mint.
anyone who knows me well knows that 90% of my sentences start with, "so, I was just listening to this podcast and..." that is relevant for TWO reasons re: this post. 1) as I was making this peanut topped dish, @gastropodcast's peanut episode came on and it was amazing! bonus points for also referencing Plumpy'nut, which has taken over my life for the past decade! and 2) this recipe for roasted broccoli with scallions and peanuts comes from @bonappetitmag, which is one of my other all time favorite food podcasts (also looking at you @splendidtable and @cherrybombemag!) what do you listen to? i start every day with podcasts, so I'm always looking for new ones to add!
I've been toying around with the idea of hosting a toast bar brunch. I'm picturing bowls of cinnamon sugar and butter, poached eggs, avocado spread, and all kinds of fruity toppings. good idea, y/n? there will be bottomless mimosas, so I'm sure we can make it work 🤗 pictured here is toasted homemade bread topped with balsamic roasted strawberries and feta.

'CSA Snapshots,' (link in profile!) is a weekly recount of how i put to use the fresh veggies i have delivered [almost near] my doorstep, thanks to @lancasterfarmfresh co-op! CSAs, or community supported agriculture, embody seasonal and local eating at its finest. i'm definitely now a CSA fan for life. the produce is fresher, more flavorful and lasts longer. plus, it's better for the environment (which, lordy we need right now) and local farmers. would love to hear how others fare with their csa, and as always, keep the recipe suggestions coming! 🍅🥒🥕🍓🌽
