Who knew avocado salad could be this good? I've obviously been a heathen, only eating my avocado on toast and not like this heavenly creation with chimichurri and pickled vegetables that I had at @bourbonsteakdc And yes I am fully aware that I got neither the bourbon nor the steak at Bourbon Steak. #noms#bourbonsteak#fourseasons#veggies

We ordered every taco on the menu except for the basic chick 🐥. They were all delicious! Favorites were the mushroom (surprisingly), shrimp and the two bottles of vino 🍷

Day 5: Ramadan is part of life in Morocco right now, and chef @cmorgasbord purposely planned his cooking adventure around it, especially when it's part of #meetatmaydan . “The sun begins to set around 7:30, which marks the beginning of Iftar (the daily breaking of the Ramadan fast). We arrived at the small blue shack on the beach which, earlier in the day, I had negotiated with the owner for him to teach me how to make chermoula and allow me to use his charcoal fire pit for Iftar dinner. At 7:15 we set up the fire and make the marinade/chermoula for the seafood. As we cooked, more and more people showed up—who were friends and family of the owner—to celebrate the breaking of the fast. This was the main reason I came to Essaouira, and it was every bit as awesome as I had expected. We pulled our meal straight off of the grill and onto our plates to go with our spread of harissas, Moroccan salad, and, as always in Morocco, fresh bread. We shared our meal with them men who were kind enough to share their kitchen with us and left them smiling as we were ourselves.” 📸 @omarchennafi
Day 5: Coastal #compassrogue paradise found in Morocco, and its name is Essaouira. Chef @cmorgasbord spent the morning shopping for seafood in this famous seaside town known for its bright blue boats. “Stall after stall after stall selling some of the freshest seafood I've ever seen along the long pier that stretches from the blue rowboats of the inner harbor to the large fishing boats roughly four hundred yards away. That variety of fish and fresh seafood was almost overwhelming. While there, I gutted and broke down a whole moray eel with a meat cleaver over a piece of less-than-sturdy driftwood while seagulls flew overhead in hopes of catching the scraps. The whole ‘washing your hands’ thing after that was difficult, but nothing a little saltwater bath couldn't fix.” 📸 @omarchennafi
Made it to Friday. Your reward: mussels in 🍅 & saffron broth with chorizo and plenty of flatbread so you can soak up every last lick of sauce. #weekendeats#dcdining#mountpleasantdc
