You know 2 of the things I admire most in a person?
Honesty and Courage.
We associate those words with heroes, as we most certainly should.
But in the sense I’m talking right now, I admire people that can be honest about who they are and have the courage to share their true self with the rest of the world. Not just the filtered, pretty parts of their life, but the real, raw scenes of the every day moments.
In the world of social media, more than ever we see what others pick and choose to show us. Naturally, we only want to show the nicest parts of our life. We filter and fix the blemishes. We crop out the messes. We retake the same selfie 27 times.
All for that perfect moment.
In doing so, we’re hurting each other.
Yes, I said hurting. Without intending to, we’re making others think their life is more messy, that they are more flawed, and that they are simply, not enough.
So here... a simple picture that was meant to be a progress pic for my eyes only this week, but got “messed up” when my 2 year old ran in the bathroom dumping toys in the sink. I lost my flex in a laugh, my hair isn’t brushed, no makeup, no filter to hide my tiger stripes.
Just real, raw, messy, beautiful LIFE.
If you are doing unhealthy things to look fit you totally missing the point. Playing with hormones and drugs to lose weight or gain muscle is so dangerous. Natural is the best and safest way to go. You won't gain huge amounts of muscle but you won't regret it when you are older either. STAY FIT #DEDICATED

I’ll be real...it’s takes a lot to develop a “work hard” mindset. But once you do, the desire to grind and constantly improve and better yourself becomes effortless. You can be whoever you wanna be. It’s all about the mindset...just remember that 🔑. 🙏🏻

💬 Life can weigh us down, but we all have something intrinsically unique that lifts us back up. A drive that was once subconsciously there when I began is now readily conscious to me, and that drive has lifted these weights even when life has had me at its lows. The drive comes easy because it is natural to me, but the journey that comes with it can be lonely as a college student who doesn't crave some of the things that are stereotyped to be "living" the best years of your life in college culture, one of those being drinking obnoxiously to get drunk at the end of the week. I'm not a party pooper by any means lol 💩 I believe a balance exists, but lifting weights is a big part to the balance I feel internally and it lifts up a part of me I can't find without it.
The gym is my fiesta, the drums are a gift, and the Lord is my buffet.

I’m not one of those fitness people who look fit and amazing 24/7. I’m human and I love carbs and setbacks happen 😊. The old me would wallow in self pity and keep eating carbs. The new me is ready to recommit to reaching goals and feeling strong. .

2 types: short and long term. Short term is what you want to accomplish today, in a week, or in a month. Long term is what you want to accomplish within the next couple of months to several years.
It's good to have both. Dream big, but keep it realistic. •
My lifestyle change began 3+ years ago. I had a goal to be healthier. I also began lifting weights. My long term goal was to be able to bench, squat, and deadlift 2 plates. I hit 2 plates on deadlifts pretty quickly, next came squats, and although I'm still working on my bench press, I'm only 10 pounds away from hitting it!! Today I put up 215 for 1...hit a new PR! I'm so close to my goal that I can taste it and I plan to crush it by the end of this year! And thankfully I've got a good support group behind me, like @Ashley.stem and @robmasterfitness! •
