Honestly i correct ppl abt my middle names, my first(Nora), is so Easy, but like no one I know says my last name right and I never correct them bc I don’t wanna be obnoxious. I guess I should start. I don’t like that my name has been westernized.
Yh it can be really hard to be from two different backgrounds. Especially when one or both of your parents are immigrants. Especially when I was young, I really didn’t embrace my middle eastern culture, bc I was teased in school. But I’m making up for it now, I guess.
Acting homework can be lonely work.
My internet has become my friend. I encourage it when it has issues...the internet is slowly becoming my Wilson.
Currently researching Three Decades of Former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Found a free PBS Frontline Program, "Cheney's Law" explaining the events of Cheney's work from Reagan through to post 9/11 - most notably, giving the President unprecedented power without the need for congressional approval. This led to PRISM - The NSA Massive Data Mining and Surveillance carried out on US citizens, that Edward Snowden exposed later.
The work I am doing now is studying the political events leading up to the current day of the play: Christmas Eve, 2004. I still have knowledge of The Gulf War and the Iran-Contra Affair after working on "Two Rooms" by Lee Blessing, which is useful, but I need to now go deeper into the 1980/90/00s landscape.
This is the part of the work that is not necessarily filled with exciting realisations and, you can start talking to the internet wifi icon on your screen. It's necessary, I need to find my liberal arguments against my conservative family...politics is something we debate at length so I need clarity and a very specific point of view. My parents are "in" with the conservative elites too so there's a lot of personal affection to overcome with logic. This is part of the Who Am I? homework (Not sure what that is? Seek Howard Fine)
"When I called the first synod, most of the media were concerned with one question: Will the divorced and remarried be able to receive communion? Since I am not a saint, this was somewhat annoying to me, and even made me a bit sad. Because I think: those media that say all these things, don’t they realize that’s not the important issue? Don’t they realize that the family, all over the world, is in crisis? And the family is the basis of society! Don’t they realize that young people don’t want to get married? Don’t they realize that the declining birth rate in Europe is enough to make us weep? Don’t they realize that the shortage of jobs and employment opportunities is forcing fathers and mothers to take two jobs and children to grow up by themselves and not learn how to talk with their mothers and fathers? These are the big issues!" -Pope Francis <3<3's<3
