SUGARS vs. NATURAL SUGARS 👊
There are many concerns for us Dental Professionals when it comes to sugars. Here's a quick guide to sugars. 😷
1. Fruit contains naturally occurring sugars therefore it is a much better alternative to your processed sugar laden snacks. 🤔
2. Rather than snacking on sugary sweets or citrus fruits throughout the day maybe try out some celery, carrot, cucumber sticks and hommous. Highly acidic fruits 🍊🍏🍍🥝 can cause irreversible erosion & high sugar foods can cause tooth decay.
3. Watch out for those hidden sugars such as ketchup, yoghurts, breakfast cereal & flavoured milk to name a few. Check the labels for "Carbohydrates... of which sugars”, try and keep this to a minimum.🤓 4. Smoothies might taste great but if they contain a lot of fruit they are packed full of sugar. The Glycemic Index of fruit changes when it is blended causing a spike in your blood sugar levels faster. Why not try out a green veggie smoothie next time. 🥑
5. Fruit & Veggies contain more fibre and less calories therefore you will feel fuller for longer over that bar of chocolate🍫... think twice.
Hopefully next time your looking for a snack make the smart choice and avoid refined sugary snacks.
After your snack you want to neutralise the saliva so a piece of sugar-free gum, small cube of cheese 🧀or small amount of nuts 🌰🥜 will do the trick. 📸 credit - @abstractoddfruits

I did something today that was pretty far outside of my comfort zone. I actually followed my curiosity. I told myself "It's okay if it sucks." Over and over and over again just so I could get it done. And I've had to repeat that mantra a few times today as well as I
have swung between totally regretting it (vulnerability hang over!) and just enjoying the fact that I made something (and enjoying the new sparks of curiosity that are now coming.) There are so many places I would have never gone in my life had I not pushed my limits. And that's coming from someone who likes to camp out in that comfort zone until the end of time.
Is this post long enough yet? 😘Can I hide my reveal as far down the page as possible?
Anyway. I talked about what I do for a living in the vlog today in a fun way. It was a lot of fun. Plus, I love markers. Link in bio.
Salivary stone (Sialolithiasis)🗿 19 year old female patient came in and saw Paul. She was complaining of pain every time she was thirsty or hungry and had swelling in the lower left side of the jaw.
For small stones, stimulating saliva flow by sucking on a sugar-free lollie may cause the stone to pass spontaneously. In other cases where stones are small, the dentist may massage or push the stone out of the duct. Larger stones may needed minor surgical removal 👍
I had the opportunity to talk health with my good friend @the_desertdoc during my live Instagram video. It was an insightful conversation that allowed us to talk about how medicine and dentistry go hand in hand. He also spoke about his passion for public health. I loved having this opportunity and be on the lookout for more of these talks in the future. I will be launching a YouTube page soon, that will have many more of these podcasts. Link in bio
Losing weight, getting healthy, eating healthy can be tough if you are doing it alone. I'm such a big believer in accountability and support because some days you feel motivated and pumped to get your workouts in and eating healthy but there are also some days you don't. On the not so motivating days that's when accountability and support plays a huge role.
On June 19th we are starting a 30 day group where we can help each other during the tough times. We'll be focusing on eating healthy, working out, and mindset. 💙
If your interested click on the link in my bio and fill out my challenge group form.💙✌🏻

Coz this is how we roll. Ok not trying to sound like a try-hard. Giving this gentleman some pearly whites to smile about. Gap closure and resizing teeth all necessary to enhance proportions of teeth so they don't look too wide. Yes. It may have been worthwhile considering adding a couple more.
