Today’s Typography lesson was much like the previous one. We were given a lecture about semiotics and gestalt theory within type. Then we went on to disfigure typography again. Only, we made more interactive pieces by cutting them out of card. .
I am pretty happy with how mine turned out. It actually has this “logo” feel to it. Maybe for a technology/ computer company or something? It is supposed to be the letters “A” & “C” but it looks a bit like and “E” where it overlaps the “A”. It’s still pretty cool though. .
We were also given a 2 week brief. I was given a brief and told to work in it from home. For 2 weeks and then they’ll see what we’ve done then... this is a super weird feeling for me as every other brief I have complete have been class based. I don’t mind working at home, don’t get me wrong, but the thing that makes me feel most weird is how I can’t ask a teacher/ lecturer if it’s okay and spring board my ideas from the people around my class. .
In my student accommodation, (it’s private let, so bit many bodies) I’m the only artist as far as I’m concerned. So I can’t discuss my ideas with the people I know here because they won’t understand. It’s weird Isolated feeling right now. But I’m sure as soon as my creative juices start to flow, I’ll be fine. I am an independent worker after all. .
But a little sneak peak into this project. It’s about soap! You’ll see more in a few weeks😁✍🏼
