Sometimes the best details can't be bought! These kid-sized paddles were hand carved and then painted by grandpa's childhood best friend in Springdale, Newfoundland (who still lives right across the street from the house her grandpa grew up in).
It's worth noting that aside from the birch tree feature wall, we went with cotton candy pink for this room. Not exactly our first choice, but it's sweet Georgia's favourite thing about her room. Making a space perfectly perfect for the person who will spend the most time inside it is more important than a flawlessly cohesive design scheme, always always always. Even if it is cotton candy pink in a woodland adventure room 🍭⛺️🤷🏼♀️

We're revealing a sweet design-built #lotholzandco kids room this week. We have so much fun selecting pieces from other talented makers to pull into our designs. This custom mobile by @tinylittlenest is whimsy in a nutshell!
The clear coat is still drying on the base, but we just couldn't resist posting a teaser of this custom kids bed that we're finishing up today. We'll post a full room reveal over the next couple of weeks!
"We wanted a nursery change table that would convert into a record player console when the time for diapers was finally behind us. Lotholz and Company did an incredible job in designing a piece that was functional for both intended purposes and nailed the aesthetics we wanted. Equally impressive for us was the durability the piece has shown over the last two years. I can happily say this is the first piece of furniture I've ever owned that I plan to keep forever." _________________________
We often check in with our customers down the road to make sure they're still just as happy with their piece as when it was brand new. Sadly for mom and dad, this one has yet to have diapers swapped for records...soon, @holesinyaswetta @b.ewb!

’Noguchi’s Playscapes' is now on view at @sfmoma through November 26, organized by @eneltamayo in collaboration with The Noguchi Museum.
:: "Noguchi’s Playscapes, organized by the Museo Tamayo, revisits his designs for several playgrounds, as well as stand-alone play structures. Through models, sketches, set designs, and archival images, the exhibition offers a view of Noguchi’s vision for new experiences of art, education, and humanity through play. While few were realized, Noguchi’s playscapes continue to inspire contemporary designers to consider play as a strategy for building community and stimulating creativity in the everyday." -- "So, Zoila, are you just going to stay there like you are looking at the piece?": asked Morris. -"Yes, Morris. I will stay like this." --- Strike a pose. Follow that beat kind of morning with Boo Bear Morris. #idontworkiplay#comeandmeetmehere#thismuseumlife#isathing#isamunoguchi#sfmoma#strikeaposefollowthatbeat
Kids rooms and nurseries always win out as our favourite projects. Those fun cabinet knobs that you find at @anthropologie but can't imagine where you would put them? Check it! We make the topper piece on these change tables to attach from the back so that they can be taken off and the cabinet repurposed as a versatile console once you're ready to move it out of your nursery. We've even customized the open shelves on one to fit records! We're pretty sure that customer ended up potty training early so that they could set up their vinyl 😉
Call it a casualty of the floor plan, but this bedroom in a #yyc new construction home ended up with an empty nook in the corner, finished only with drywall. We finished it out with some fun wallpaper and custom built in shelving in maple. Guaranteed it only stayed perfectly styled for 1.4 seconds, but that's kind of the point.
We're excited to share more of this room with you, especially the whimsical twin bed frame we designed!
Does this remind you of any awkward, under-utilized spaces in your own home? @lotholzandcompany would love to help!
