When I visit McDonalds (mostly when I'm a drunken mess occasionally for someone's birthday 😂... not going to lie) I see so many people ordering multiple burgers thinking they're doing themselves better because it's 'Protein'

What people generally forget is that McDonald's doesn't contain a great deal of protein, more so Fat from the oils and meats they use 😬

If you find yourself in a McDonald's , your best bet is to either, get a plain burger with no cheese + regular chips 🍟 or alternatively you can enjoy life and enjoy all 4 burgers 😂 it depends what your Macronutrients are and what your goal is! It could be to gain weight for all I know 🤗🤔🍔

On a serious note though, you should be GLAD that your body is capable of storing bodyfat this easily. It’s so efficient & perfect at it, that it saves every bit of extra energy for future use when needed. Nothing goes wasted. -
I mean, your body doesn’t really know that we’re surrounded by infinite food, so it makes sense for it to be able to store bodyfat & use it for energy in case food wouldn’t be available. -
I’m pretty sure you would never complain for a phone that would be capable of charging up very fast and then last very very long, yet you cry because of the fact that your body doesn’t lose fat as fast as you’d like to. -
Being fat is like being a full battery charged phone: if you want to lose it, you need to start multitasking & playing all of the apps, while keeping your phone off of charge!

I’ve never posted this specific pic before. It’s from 2 days out of my pro debut in 2016. Watching myself get leaner and leaner each week now is bringing back all of the feels and memories from that 2016 prep which started in December of 2015 and ended in April 2016. It was tough. It was fast paced. It was totally worth it though. This prep is going to be different since we’ve got more time and I’m coming off of a long offseason. .

I think tanning and doing cardio is also making me nostalgic. I did my first cardio session last night and I did two short tanning sessions post workout this week. .

So far we have learned on the other episodes about BMR, about how weight loss is mathematics,  we learned about why  dieting doesn't work and so many interesting things. Now, how can you lose weight?

In order to answer you, let's recap something from a past lesson: the total calories you burn per day is your BMR ( which can be the basic amount of calories, or higher if you hit the gym) + the calories from the activities you do ( working, gym, walking, reading, playing etc) = the total amount of calories burned per day. 
Now you have the number of calories you burn per day. To lose weight you need to create a deficit daily. For example, if you are a woman and burn 2200 calories per day (BMR + exercise etc) and you want to lose weight, you need to create a deficit of at most 1000 calories. That means you should eat about 1200-1400 calories per day, for weight loss. 
WARNING: maximum 1000 calories deficit per day and not a calorie more and never ever eat less  then 1200 calories if you are a woman and 1400 calories if you are a man.

What's a diet?  A diet is nothing more than the way you eat. That's it.  In my opinion, dieting in the traditional sense does not work. It doesn't work because it is impossible if not nearly impossible to stick to one style of eating. Can you imagine yourself eating the same exact thing, at the same exact time, day in and day out? I bet that you couldn't. In my experience people who diet tend to form this unhealthy relationship with food in which they work so hard to deny a specific type of food or specific types of foods for a period of time only to binge on it later. Many people yo-yo diet, crash diet, bodybuilders and physique competitors adhere to a strict diet only to binge after competition, and many people have what is known as a "cheat day" or a "cheat meal" all of which I think is pretty ridiculous. The bottom line is, if you want to lose weight, you must eat less and / or move more. Obviously we can get into the glycemic index, and obviously different foods have different effects on the body but the number one factor in weight loss is calories in vs. calories out. There is no magic diet, or magic bullet, no magic supplement or gimmick that will compensate for a caloric surplus. There's no easy way around it. Losing weight is simple, but not easy. If you want to lose weight you're going to have to eat less, and ideally move more on top of that. You will be uncomfortable, and that's because you're going to have to make some lifestyle changes. It doesn't matter whether you follow a ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low fat diet, high protein diet, whatever. You need be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. Why do people who undergo gastric bypass surgery lose so much weight so quickly? Simple, they end up eating less. A lot less. Now you can go that route if you choose to, but you would still end up having to eat less.

A lot of times clients think they’re doing everything right but “little” things like this are huge. Anything you eat should be tracked—especially while trying to reach specific fat loss or fitness goals.

LOW BELLY FAT ⁉️😫 Getting toned abs comes down to having lean muscle and a low enough body fat to see that muscle. What makes this tougher for women is that we tend to store fat in our lower abdomen and upper butt / thigh area. So no matter how hard you work to build those muscles - they're not gonna matter if you’ve got a layer of fat covering them.

Here’s my advice:
1️⃣ Focus on nutrition first - it’s much easier to cut calories via diet than burn calories via exercise. Case in point when you look at how many calories are in a cookie vs. how long it would take to burn said calories off on the treadmill.
2️⃣ Fight cravings (as I am here 😋) - if you’re always caving to cravings or slipping up with your diet, you’ll never achieve a low enough body fat to see your abs.
3️⃣ BE FLEXIBLE!!! - one of the biggest mistakes I see when people try to do 1 and 2 is cut to out all the foods they love. Cut that ish out. Restraint over restriction is the way to go.

Both are the same size, both come with avocado, cheese, croutons and dressing. However the bowl on the right is almost 300 calories more than the bowl on the left.⠀

It's easy to look at a salad and just think 'it's just a salad' -⠀
but small variations in the toppings and dressings can dramatically change the nutritional value.⠀

Just look at your standard supermarket salad bar like Morrisons - I'd say only 50% of the offering is made up of greens and veggies. The rest is different types of pasta, potato salad, oily dressings and crunchy bacon bits.⠀

This, OF COURSE, is absolutely fine. Some days I'll dowse mine in those bacon bits to the point it's actually bacon bits with lettuce on top. But atleast I know where I'm at 💪⠀

Anyway my point is, salads are a fantastic way to pack in lots of lavly micros but not all salads are the same. Being aware of the individual components of the meal you're eating AND how it sits in context to the rest of your day will massively help if weight-loss/weight-gain is your goal 💕⠀

Avocado Salad vs Avocado Salad 🥑⠀ ⠀ Both are the same size, both come with avocado, cheese, croutons and dressing. However the bowl on the right is almost 300 calories more than the bowl on the left.⠀ ⠀ It's easy to look at a salad and just think 'it's just a salad' -⠀ but small variations in the toppings and dressings can dramatically change the nutritional value.⠀ ⠀ Just look at your standard supermarket salad bar like Morrisons - I'd say only 50% of the offering is made up of greens and veggies. The rest is different types of pasta, potato salad, oily dressings and crunchy bacon bits.⠀ ⠀ This, OF COURSE, is absolutely fine. Some days I'll dowse mine in those bacon bits to the point it's actually bacon bits with lettuce on top. But atleast I know where I'm at 💪⠀ ⠀ Anyway my point is, salads are a fantastic way to pack in lots of lavly micros but not all salads are the same. Who likes carbs? Me me me! I freaking love them, y’all. Oh, and anyone who did not raise their hand is a bold face liar. I hate to call you out — but I’m calling you out. Lol

When trying to lose fat carbs are my enemy. They can derail me so fast its not even funny. But, with carb cycling I can make it through the week rocking high fat and high protein with basically as many non starch veggies as I want and I am able to do that easier because I know on the weekend that not only am I getting 1000 more calories for Saturday and Sunday, I will be able to have the starchy carbs I love so dearly without feeling guilty about it.

Without getting to sciency here carb cycling can also positively impact your hormones. When having high and low carb days you are able to elevate insulin levels which has anabolic benefits such as helping with entry of amino acids and glucose into muscle cells. When in a constant low carb diet the spikes don’t happen near as much.

The high carb days are also known as re-feed days which is a planned increase in carbs and calories for the day or day(s). Low carb days will be high protein and high fat and the high(er) carb days will consist of moderate protein and fats so your calories don’t get completely out of control.

Anyone who works with me knows I recommend increasing protein intake to most clients - it’s the one macronutrient most people consume less than they need (v’s carbs and fat which is usually the opposite) .
Check out this recipe from @maxweberfit for a delicious protein ice cream. This is also a great pre bed snack for athletes, Greek yoghurt provides slow release protein for overnight recovery 🙌🏼

😋 I scream, you scream, we all stream for…. Yup, you know it. Great minds think…. 😎 damn we’re good!! But for realz, ice cream is the bomb dot com. However, ice cream is typically high in calories, high in carbs and high in fat. This means it’s not an awesome option when in a calorie deficit, with fat loss aspirations… -
😔 Not all of us have access to Halo Top *gasp* and not all of us want to spent between £££ per tub of ice cream that we’ll breeze through in under 10 minutes… SO, what the heck do you do?!?!

👍🏼 You make your own silly! And it’s actually quite simple! All you need is:

▪️ Frozen blueberries
▪️ Frozen banana
▪️ A few handfuls of ice
▪️ Some greek yogurt
▪️ Some protein powder (any will do)
▪️ Some low-calorie liquid like almond milk
▪️ And… a blender, bowl and spoon!

🏆 And here’s what to do:

🥇 Add all your ingredients into your blender.
🥈 Blend all your ingredients up! (This is the time you can experiment with more or less ice, and more or less liquids for desired thickness).
🥉 After it’s blended (it should be thick-ish), dump it into your bowl and then set it in your freezer for like 20 minutes or so.
🏅 Take it out and enjoyyyyyy!!!

Una nuova ricerca suggerisce che la somministrazione di #taurina, una #molecola prodotta naturalmente dalle cellule umane, potrebbe aumentare l’efficacia delle attuali terapie per la #sclerosimultipla (SM). Gli scienziati dello Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) hanno scoperto che la taurina aiuta a stimolare un processo chiamato #rimielinizzazione, che è cruciale per riparare le cellule nervose danneggiate nella sclerosi multipla.
La scoperta evidenzia anche il potenziale di una tecnica chiamata “profilatura metabolomica”, che può identificare utili metaboliti endogeni che l’organismo produce già in piccole quantità, come la taurina, per nuove applicazioni nelle terapie farmacologiche.
La sclerosi multipla è una #malattia autoimmune che si sviluppa quando il corpo inizia ad attaccare le guaine mieliniche protettive sulle cellule nervose. Senza guaine mieliniche sane, le cellule nervose non possono comunicare correttamente e i pazienti presentano #sintomi quali intorpidimento, difficoltà a camminare, disturbi della parola e perdita della vista.
I nuovi test di analisi e di follow-up sulle #cellule hanno dimostrato che il metabolita endogeno taurina non può indurre da solo la maturazione delle cellule precursori degli oligodendrociti, ma può favorire il processo di rimielinizzazione quando combinato con i farmaci benztropina o miconazolo.
