I get my nutrition plan from my trainer on Thursday.  Thing is, I am pretty dedicated to eating healthy and eating low carb on my own. Volume: Higher volumes and total weekly sets (to a certain extent) are superior to lower volumes when seeking to maximize gains in size (Schoenfeld et.al. 2015). Therefore, increasing total volume (likely via more sets) is a must in order to maximise hypertrophy of any muscle, not just arms.

Frequency: If growing your arms is your goal, cramming all of the above additional volume into 1 workout/wk isn’t going to cut it. Instead, spreading the volume out more frequently (2-3x/wk) throughout the week will allow you to maximise muscle protein synthesis and thus, optimise hypertrophy (Schoenfeld et al 2016).

Intensity (i.e. load): Don’t approach training arms as your “easy day”. You want them to grow so just like any other muscle, you need to apply progressive overload and train them hard as intensity is by far one of, if not the most important exercise variables when it comes to stimulating muscle growth (Fry 2004).

Rep ranges: Stop chasing the pump with 30rep sets of light weight. Sure high rep training will cause metabolic stress (Kraemer et al 1990) however lighter loads still seem inferior to heavier (ACSM 2009) and to be not enough to promote significant hypertrophy (McDonagh & Davies 1984).

Exercise selection: Train BOTH triceps AND biceps evenly. Triceps are mostly made up of type II muscle fibres (Gjovagg et al. 2008) meaning that they will respond better to heavier loads lifted more explosively. In particular a close grip bench seems to be the most “optimal” for stimulating all heads of the tris (Lehman et al. 2005) followed by isolation work (pushdown and overhead extensions) AFTER in order to further emphasise the different heads (Boeckh-Behrens & Buskies. 2000). Similarly to triceps, bicep recruitment has shown to increase with heavier loads (Lagally et. al., 2002) meaning that at least 1 of your exercises will be performed HEAVY. Ideally a supinated (palms up) curl of choice followed similarly by your isolation (further curl variations) AFTER in order to further recruit all regions of the biceps more evenly (Oliveria et al 2009).

Foods provide macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates and fats), and these in turn provide CALORIES (energy). We consume a certain amount of calories daily to keep us alive and move. There are foods and foods that bring more calories than others, ☝ ️ BUT this DOES NOT mean that one fattens more than the other. There are no foods that fatten or slim ❌, this is a poorly used statement because it is not dependent on food but on the daily balance of macronutrients in your diet, you have eaten whatever you have eaten. Chicken, salads, fruits, pizza, fries, etc. Everything in the end is reduced by a basic rule:

1️⃣Case 1: You spend less calories than you eat daily and store the excess; You increase your weight. This is a hypercaloric diet ⬆ ️ (high calories).

2️⃣Case 2: You spend more calories than you eat daily and consume your own body to compensate for the rest you need, so you lose weight. This is a hypocaloric diet ⬇ ️ (low calories).
.
3️⃣Case 3: You spend the same calories you eat daily. You're holding on to your weight.

☝ ️ Now:

👉 To lose fat or define/tone (it is the same): You must start from a low calorie diet.

👉 To gain muscle: You must start from a hypercaloric diet.

And since you can not gain weight and lose weight at the same time, you can not take a diet to lose fat and to increase muscle simultaneously ❌. You must do it by ✅ stages. This is one of the most common reasons why people do not advance. They think they can do everything at the same time and the reality is that they don't. ❌

☝ ️ IMPORTANT: This rule is only the fundamental basis, because it is not just simple calories. Each person has a DIFFERENT  nutritional requirement in macronutrients. That is, you must consume a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats a day, depending on your characteristics and your goal, regardless of the calories that represents. So if you thought it was just enough to eat less to lose fat, you will end up losing muscle and generating a bounce effect. It goes beyond that.

Here’s my first Transformation Tuesday post. Photo on the left was taking in 2007 at 165lbs and photo on the right was taken in 2017 at 220lbs 10 years later! I originally started going to the gym in 2005 with my good friend @albee0417 to lose weight because I was starting to get out of shape. And once I started weight training after doing 60-90min cardio sessions the rest was history. I was extremely blessed to have many different kind and experienced mentors to guide me and my friends along over this 13 year span of fitness. 
This just shows you what anyone is capable of if you just put your mind to it and never give up. A little bit of dedication and consistency goes a long way. That sh%^ is important.  Your health, motivation, hormones and mood are all determined by this major factor.  If your up all night thinking that’s no bueno. .
Write it all out.  Get what’s in your head on paper. This will take some of those thoughts and release them into something tangible.  If your stressing write out your problem, pick action steps to fix it and plan those steps out to be done ASAP.  The best stress reliever is massive action to fix the problem

Mediation has been around for years for a reason and studies are showing that it’s pretty much a limitless pill.  Don’t cheat yourself Mediate, I’ll make a post just for this later.

Cutting off that TV and giving yourself time to think are one and the same.  All day we take in stimulus and all of a sudden we ask our bodies to shut down at the drop of a hat.  It doesn’t work that way.  Cut off the TV, turn off the music and think 🤔 about things before you call it a day.  Going back to number one, make a list, plan your next day.
All these can help but in combination will have you sleeping sounder quicker than you could believe.

My kids dad decides to go into the bodybuilding life style which consisted of a lot of calisthenics and healthy eating.. We met a group of interesting people that worked out in the park at 161 st Yankees stadium. Known as BROTHERHOOD... They focused on calisthenics.. I decided to implement this healthy living to see if i can get rid of the sagging skin... I joined “Brotherhood” on all their work outs.. 🍗 350 Calorie Chicken and Sweet Potato Dinner🍠

I was low on carbs today so I had a biggggg 200gram sweet potato😁
Directions👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Heat sweet potato (I have one you can heat in wrapping) for 4 min. Take out of wrapping and stab with knife. Stay Parkay spray butter on it and sprinkle one stevia. Put inside tinfoil and put in oven at 450 degrees for 20min. Take out, cut open, sprinkle stevia and 5 sprays spray butter and cinnamon.
Chicken Directions 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Cut off all fat from boneless skinless chicken tenderloins and sprinkle Jalapeño Garlic Grill Seasoning on both sides. Sprinkle Worcestershire sauce on top and bake at 350 degrees for 23 min. Take out, sprinkle with 1/2 Tbs Parmesan cheese and ENJOY! This is one of my fav healthy meals😊

8 months pregnant to twins not bad only gained 15 lbs through out pregnancy.. leaving me weighting 165 this pregnancy was not easy due to my anemia and not being able to eat much.. ONE thing to keep in mind with the gastric bypass you don’t get hungry you just know u have to eat.. this was difficult because i ate but constantly got sick or too full.. so, i had to eat constantly through out the day for the babies... i had to take prenatal pills, prescribed vitamins, high doses of iron, and b-12 taking so many pills was difficult to take in.. during the last stages i couldn’t sleep i had to sit on sofas and rest.. it wasn’t easy but the best thing about the surgery you are able to still conceive 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
