Why it's good: Chia is packed with omega 3, fibre, protein, antioxidants and phytochemicals. Soaking the chia activates the seed making it more bio-available to your body, as well as slows the digestion of the seeds, helping to keep you satiated, well-hydrated, preventing blood sugar spikes, improving bowel movements and decreasing cholesterol levels.
How to use: Chia is natures thickener, making it great in baked goods in place of egg, as well as on its own in a chia pudding. Include it in your smoothies, bircher muesli or porridge for breakfast, or simply sip on 1-2 tsp in 1L of water throughout the day. You can sprinkle it on salads but the seeds are best consumed soaked for benefits.

Why it balances kapha: some of the same reasons I have been describing in past posts... Trikonasana opens the chest, which is the area where kapha loves to aggregate. This allows prana to flow more freely through the kapha physiology. I encourage you to bring your gaze (drshti) upwards, which increases the lightness of the asana and challenges the balance for heavy, static kapha. Trikonasana also is a gentle twist, which is helpful for increasing agni, which is always a challenge in people with high kapha. Kapha tends to have manda, or slow, agni, meaning their digestion tends to be sluggish and oily, leading to slow metabolism and occasional constipation. In order to strengthen agni, we have to keep kapha warm, and practicing this asana in a dynamic flow will absolutely accomplish that! 🔥

Peppermint oil is one of the most popular oils! Definitely the Oil I use the most. Peppermint is amazing for our digestive system, muscles and mind. Emotionally it lifts the heart and helps you feel energized. With reflux babies you can hit a plateau. Equally pre meds you can experience 4am meltdowns when your baby is writhing around in pain.
Mllk recommend a tincture; a mix of 3oz warm water (boiled then cooled) and a teaspoon of brown granulated sugar - dissolved in the water.
The sugar reacts with your baby's enzymes and settles indigestion. Only do it once per night for three consecutive nights, otherwise baby will develop a taste for sugar. It's a handy remedy if you're caught out whilst travelling and nothing is settling your baby.
