The Swastika has it's origins dating back 5000 years.
The word itself is ancient, derived from three Sanskrit roots "su" (good), "asti" (exists, there is, to be) and "ka" (make) and has meant a "making of goodness" or "marker of goodness".
The clockwise swastika is a solar symbol (Surya), mirroring the motion of Sun in India (the northern hemisphere) where it appears to enter from east, then south, exiting to the west.
The counterclockwise sauvastika is less used, connotes the night and in tantric traditions it is an icon for goddess Kali, the terrifying form of Devi Durga.
Even in the West, up to the early 20th century the Swastika was seen as a symbol of prosperity and good luck. It was only when it was adopted by the Nazi party in the 1920's and their rise to power that it started to diminish in prominence.
It remains a prominent religious symbol in India to this day, but in the west it has faded and often efforts are made to remove the symbol in public spaces because of it's most famous history and association with the Nazis.
Where does she wait? What are her surroundings? Does she have a voice? Is she smart? Funny? What does she do?
A new work.

SELF-LOVE/// it's easy for me to look at this picture and pull myself apart. We've been conditioned to place unrealistic expectations on ourselves that lead to a slew of body image and confidence issues.
Man with the amount of social media these days, how hard is it getting to not compare yourself to others? Instagram being the worst, where millions of photos of people are constantly putting up their "BEST" shots. And here we are, scrolling through em all, looking for inspiration, while at the same time, comparing ourselves to them. You work your ass off, so why is it that you've got cellulite on your thighs when the chick on IG trains the same as you? You go to the gym every day but just can't seem to get those washboard abs. You've practiced a move a thousand times but can't quite nail it like the person that's been doing it for like 15 years. What the hell is going wrong here?! 😥😥😥
We are all on a different journey. We've all got different mindsets housed in different bodies. We draw our motivation from different places. Different goals. Different lifestyles. Looking to people for inspiration is awesome but know where to draw the line between being inspired and comparing yourself to someone.
I challenge you! The next time that you look at yourself in the mirror, admire and celebrate the beautiful person that is YOU! Stand there and really take a good hard look at how freggin AMAZING you are!
Start each and every single morning OWNING the body that you're in and the person that you are. Don't walk out that front door without giving yourself a healthy dose of compliments!
As the days and months progress, it will become natural for you to love and embrace the skin that you're in.
What everyone else thinks is none of your business - what you feel and think empowers you! Love starts here 💜
