What are you made of, and why it matters?
This is my first #YouTube video explaining a science concept. I think I will do more of them ☺️☺️My doctorate focuses on #celltherapy and heart regeneration but before getting to uni I knew nothing about this cool field. Scientists are now working on using cells as #medicines to get your body to heal itself, most of the time the cells they use are called #stemcells . Just like a child they can become any cell in the #body but the environment we put them in gets them to become more specific cells in the body, such as #heart cells and muscle cells. Let me give you an example, when patients undergo chemotherapy which requires the use of high doses of radiation to kill the cancerous cells you also loose kill the stem cells in the bone marrow. Following along, new stem cells are administered to the replace those that the cancer treatment killed. This allows for the patient to have higher doses of #chemotherapy to hopefully eliminate the cancer. FYI my #Italian accent sounds strong here 🙊🙊
#happybirthday to my dear mom! I was happy to see her in the. Birthday gift I sent! She loves #wonderwoman since that's who she grew up watching lol. I've watched my mom battle and achieve and overcome so much growing up from achieving a #doctorate Degree to battling pulmonary hypertension full throttle! The things she instilled in me and my little brothers are many. I used to think how could she have such high expectations for us but I grew to realize that they were what she saw within us! It pains me to not be there but soon and very soon! I love you mom! #happybirthday#familyfirst#family#love#missyou#honor#mom#momswholift
Months ago I got accepted into a Doctorate of Educational Leadership program at @gcu 👩🏻🎓I have kept it a big secret and only told a few. I honestly didn't think I would even get accepted. When I got accepted, I didn't share th news with everyone and didn't see the purpose to. I never thought in a million years I would have a PHD. It's been almost 2ys since I walked the stage for my MA of Special Education. This past season, I felt like my calling was not fulfilled yet and I needed to take a big step. Had no clue what God had in store for me. Gods plans are ALWAYS bigger than ours. Starting in sept, I will begin my journey as PHD student. Thanks to everyone who has always supported my dreams, goals, and education. Most importantly, I want to thank God for finding favor in me and I feel so humbled that He would choose me. I'm just an ordinary girl from Hayward, who didn't even like going to school, and doing hm wk lol Now I will be a principal and have a PHD. Here goes to a chill summer before I go back to being a full time teacher and full time student all over again👩🏻💻👩🏻🎓👩🏻🏫📚📖🖊✏️🖍✂️📒📓#PHD#STUDENT#classof2020#gcu#teacher#FutureDR#PHDsoon#GodIsGood#doctorate#FuturePrincipal#EducatedLatina#Latina#blessed#favored#amazed#humbled#CANTWAIT#BackToTheBooks#DrCarrillo

Have been off the grid for the past month. Life wasn't the greatest. Too busy with school plus clinicals and work... Lesser time for training, family, friends, fun and even sleep. Struggled with doubts and fears. Some days are just a struggle for me to stay up without sleep. Some days, I am lucky if my body feels like training. Some days, my body and mind just don't want to do anything but lay down and just drift away. But this is the life I have chosen. I have chosen to achieve one of the most prestigious degrees in the world of health care. And I know that someday it will all be worth it as I would be able to make a difference to my patients and in the world of medicine. Some people might not understand the things I do. They may see it as boring and less exciting. Probably that's why when I meet new people, some don't stay and stick around which is just sad. But you know what, I don't need that kind of negativity that will just bring me down. Life is indeed hard. And as I always say, "To live is to survive unfair choices." There's no easy life. Everyone has their own struggles but everyone also has their own success. So live up warriors!!✌☝and for this picture, it's just to say that I'm stronger than my failures. (i know i don't have the greatest bod, but heck!)😏😘
The last time I wore regalia was May 2012 when I graduated from UVA with my doctorate. 💙💙Today I wore regalia and walked alongside EXTRAordinary faculty and administrators as we celebrated Strayers 125th commencement exercises and the inaugural graduation of our RN to BSN program!! The keynote speech by Chales Mann was phenomenal and the valedictorian address was PERFECT!! Wow!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾What a ride it has been to get HERE and EARN this celebratory experience! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊 I'm honored to have taught, coached and mentored the next generation of nursing leaders as well as support and inspire them to accomplish their goals! TODAY I celebrate THEM and cheer them onward and upward (to their MSN😆)! #gonurses#nurses#nursesrock#education#professor#doctorate#doctor#harrington#goaldigger
